I believe the "7:18" by Porsche, it was the internet that made it up to be 7:18.00; Porsche has been releasing laptimes for the 'ring in that format (minute:seconds) for years, even before the nurburgring craze started and they've always been reliable; in magazine tests the Carrera GT got withing one second of the factory claim after two hotlaps (albeit on the 20.6km configuration), the GT2 did 7:32.16 (factory claim was 7:32) in an Autobild test against a bike on the full track.
Porsche times are reliable.

I know someone who had GT2. He said GT2 had very responsive handling and acceleration but somehow it has a lag in low rpm. It happen on GT2 996d too. People from Autocar said: when they compare it with ZR1 in drag race, GT2 win in first run but in second run GT2 lost because when the driver shift gear in wrong rpm, the car had a bad lag. While ZR1 with their supercharge can give a lot power in low rpm so if the driver shift gear in wrong rpm, the car have a little lag. It really annoying for me. I hope Porsche can fix it.

I agree that factory tests, exciting as they may be, are more suspect than magazine tests. I trust Sport Auto a lot more than any factory. If one ignores the factory tests, and look only at magazine tests when comparing cars, I believe you'll be closer to seeing a fair comparison. Therefore, I tend to value Sport Auto tests at Hockenheim, and Car & Driver tests at VIR more than these factory times. Having said that, the various magazines' tests seem to confirm the closeness of these two cars' performance.

It's nothing to do with legal this and that. It's to do with there seats suck, they can't lap as fast without them, and they lighten the car too BELOW stock weight, even with the recording equipment!
You just make this way to easy. The stock seats didn't seem to prevent Sport Auto from getting arguably the fastest production car time ever on the Hockenheim short course. (Yes, I know the Gumpert and Donkervoort are above it on the list that is why I said arguably.) I don't even wan't to bother with the weight thing anymore since we have shown many times that the car was not lighter than stock. You just don't want to believe it.
ZR1 TIME INVALID! Used NONE STOCK racing seats the time is not in a PRDUCTION/STOCK car... Facts are facts... Corvette cheated!
The only fact is that they used non stock seats. For Corvette to have cheated there would have to be some sort of official rules for the Ring and there are not. So, it is only your opinion that they cheated and it is not an opinion shared by the rest of the legitimate automotive community since most are accepting the time.
What amazes me is that you have no problem accepting the GT2 RS Ring time as valid when the time reported is obviously not real (no way it ran a 7:18.00 exactly) and there is no video or third party proof at all. For all you know it could have been gutted with only a single seat. How do you consider this time valid?
