@fastestlaps can you combind these cars, the trophy and the normal RS are basically the same. The cup version only has upgraded suspension, that was also available for the non-cup version as option.

This car spanked the competition of the time LMAO. Good times. A shame we'll probably never have a car like this again.
Hell it was so popular even the Americans loved it

"But I do see a lot of them at Trackdays at the end of the month"

There is only 50 trophys in the UK so you would be hard pushed to see lots of them at track days!

RS500 and Scirocco R's are nice cars but they can't hadle very well. the RS500 is too heavy at the front and SR doesn't have an LSD.

Is that right - what was the official lap time for the new Type R?

the new type r they have been testing has the fastest time around the ring for any hatch now, and its not even out until 2015, they say they are making it faster

I don't think it is.

Great, And fun, price isn't too bad, and the looks are fairly good, I don't think theres such thing as the best in anything, but id gladly chose a RS500 or Scirocco R over this.

But I do see a lot of them at Trackdays at the end of the month.

The best FWD sports car in the world?

@Skyzo;

Its not about raw speed, its about how it handles the speed on a track. The Evo FQ was faster at Rockingham, a renouned power track with some infield, whereas the Evo 9 was slower at Raceland which is much more corner orientated.

Power doesnt always overcome a cars deficit.

@wooody
thanx toa higher turbo-pressure (2.5bar instead of 2.3bar) and better intake system.
2.5 bar? that seems pretty much as wrong as my grandma doing a backflip on my snowboard.
i would say more around 1.6bars.

plus how can a Meg RS265 be faster then an evo IX ????
i own both and know what im talking about.. that is as irrealistic as doing grandma on board.

The Lap Time around Suzuka (2:33 ...) the Mégane is using semi slick tyres.
Advan Neova AD08 as everybody can see in minute 1:25

Nurburgring time is not done with Potenza re050A too.
Even if you compare with some other cars in other tracks, the gap makes no sence at all

@Sportic: the Megane rs trophy's time was on a full Nürburgring lap (the widely used Sport Auto Layout), as proven on video. BTG is much shorter. You should inform you before you comment

Re all the pathetic comments on here by people, why is the lap time a fake? The record was done witnessed by various car magazines such as EVO and autocar. It was a normal car running on 19" wheels on Bridgestone RE05A tyres, which are a standard fit. The car set a FWD record at the Bedford autodrome in 2011, lapping only a second slower than the E92 M3 Competition, so it just happens to be a very quick car around the track.

The Cobalt SS is a faster/cheaper car IMO. Got more tricks up its sleeves as well.

Reason people hate on it so much is because its FWD and not because its French. To be honest FWD is pretty crummy when it comes to performance cars. People would hate on it regardless of where it is made.

Wow faster than Boxster S, Elise and within 3 Secs of Carrera S...wow wow. This car is not even half their price! I test drove it and its great build...people will be in denial, as always - it is hard to change notions like porsche is the best, bmw is great etc etc. Wake up people, this french one is punching faaaaaaaaaaaar above its weight indeed!
