Alfa's concept cars are the real deal (I mean Brera), but the production version ended up being just a pretty sports car with a heavy FF sedan chassis. I'm choosing Mazda. I might only be into the ND generation MX-5, but let's be real—who would pass up a lighter, flickable RWD roadster for a proper drive?

That said, I don't think most buyers will be pushing this car to its limits on mountain roads or tight tracks. Its positioning is likely similar to the RZ34—more of a powerful car for highway cruising. It’s like how many MINI owners don’t actually care about the driving dynamics; they’re just drawn to its quirky, novel styling.

I would pick the Mazda MX5 because I don’t give a toss if it ‘stands out’ and if I’m buying a sports car, it’s not for other people’s happiness, ITS FOR MY OWN.

As a result, I’m taking the MX5 as it’s way more fun to drive

If the Alfa was RWD I'd take it. But that way it's basically just an Italian Audi TT.
Supercharge the NC and you'll be having a blast.

Q4 system on the Brera is 43-57% and can go up to 28-72%.

Yes, the car is equipped with a torque-sensing center differential. Unfortunately, both the front and rear axles use open diffs. Moreover, it's quite heavy at 1.6 tons, and with the engine positioned ahead of the front axle, it lacks the agility that comes from the low moment of inertia essential for a small sports car.

Spider because it is far better looking and actually stands out.
Designed by Giugiaro and finished by Pininfarina, it's design is coherent with shapes and proportions and it has key elements that elevate the car to a superior level of class instead of making it look like another boring car.

Not much to say here.

The MX-5 has been largely unchanged since the original, with minor updates to keep it in tune with a current day standard. And it has outsold just about any other "sports" car on the planet to date by sticking to this carefully preserved formula.

Easily would pick the Mazda. Comes with the added perk it's comparable in maintenance cost to a Camry.

I would much rather have the light rwd car over the heavy understeery one.

I am drawn by that V6... although it is a bit of a cow compared to MX5.

IMO the entire MX-5 lineage is what the Spiders after the original should've been, the Brera-based car looks good but is neither light nor RWD :(
