When adding a non-OEM racecar, how should make and origin country be determined?

So if you have like a super gt car where its still identifiable as a benz or what have you, it is german. If its like a "special" from the 1960s or before, and its not identifiable as whatever its based on, then its wherever it was built, thats how im doing it.

while it isn't allowed on this website (yet), I feel that the Super GT Mercedes CLK could serve as a good example
it's based on a German car (obviously), but was built by Japanese HKS with close to zero Mercedes involvement (the car doesn't even bear Mercedes badges)

In that case, its a benz, therefore german. Ive been doing this with the non oem porsche GT1 cars.
