As always, rubber plays an important role in lap times more and more these days. I believe the Porsche (and possibly the GT 63 S) were on more track focussed tyres than the other cars in their category that day.
In the case of the M5 CS, BMW M provided only one set of tyres for tracking as opposed to other manufacturers. Would it have made a difference...possibly but the testers admitted as much.
