I asked Gebhardt a while ago what he thinks the 991 GT3 RS Manthey would do on Cup 2 R, he said 6:59 🤯

A lap that flew under the radar of everybody. 4 seconds off the 991.2 GT3 RS on Cup 2 R, on the 918's Cup 2 N0. The dudes at Manthey make REALLY clever stuff.

though without doubt the cup 2 R is better qualifying tire, but over a full lap of the NBR, the difference isn't as much as you think because the tire grip advantage of the cup 2R fades after about 3 minutes into the lap. That's why the SVJ tho on a trofeo R, which is technically less aggressive than a Cup 2R and more than a normal Cup 2, over the full lap may be a lot closer to the cup 2R's total lap time, being more consistent throughout th e lap.

This is very true. But the Hockenheim lap puts it into perspective better imo. I have to mention it again because, 1.05.8 vs the 991.2 GT3 RS's 1.05.4 lap on Cup 2 R on a one minute course shows exactly how nuts the 991.1 MR's performance is. I'll argue this is more impressive than being 4 seconds off the 991.2 GT3 RS at the ring. To top it off, you're now onto lap 3 and the Cup 2 R's one lap magic effect is long gone, and the 2018 3RS is now the slower car.

trofeo r tyres are a better overall tyre as they can last more laps and still are very grippy
