isn't this Z06's time for the Grand WEST course instead of the Grand East like all the other cars it's being compared against here?

@BR2:
"Im also curious as to why they havent disclosed a ring time for either C7 Models... "
Im hoping that GM as well as all other manufacturers are done with chasing silly Nurburgring lap times. Leave that for the 3rd party magazine publishers to do on other tracks.

Hate to break it to you, Z06s never were meant to be drag cars. But for an avg American who just goes to dragstrips, well yeah it'll be a disappointment, considering an equally powerful 650s not only can do similar lap times, but will completely destroy it on the strip. But hey it's half the price.

It takes 800 hp to force this overweight aerodynamic brick on four tires to break the 200 mph mark. For reference, the previous generation ZR1 required 638 hp to achieve 205 mph VERIFIED top speed and in completely STOCK FORM. Not only that, the previous generation Corvette C6 Z06 required only 505 hp to reach its top speed of 198 mph. Google Hennesey and find out for yourself. Horrible aerodynamics, who the hell came up with the idea off putting that stupid spoiler on the back off the car. ha ha ha

In the video you can see that Mero did not do it flawless. Anyone still questioning the American cars' track capabilities, just look at the z28's p/w ratio and compare it to the others on the same list, or any other track times list.

Your posted times arent anywhere near the fastest stock times recorded. Not by magazines or independant drivers. The trap speeds are roughly the same give or take a few mph, But mostly incorrect within a few.
And yes The C7 ZO6 gains 330Lbs over a C6 ZO6, And it actually has slightly better gearing, But a50Bhp more, And 180Lb Ft more, Along with a fast shifting SCT should make that All go away, Out of the millions of tests this car is gonna get, Im sure we will get one thats gonna be Really great. Specially with the "Real" Pros.

So saxy, are you saying Cup 2s are stickier than Cups now LOL?
BR2+ - The quarter times are explained by the added weight and gearing.

I dont think a ZR1 would win on any track, Maybe something like Circuit De La Sarthe, But i even doubt that, But Im actually more curious as to what its acceleration runs would be without the Level 3 aero, Sure seems to hit a brick wall at 130Mph. Must have huge downforce numbers to slow a Vette like that, Hell with the L3 its slower then a C6 ZO6 to 150Mph, Albeit gaining 320lbs, Bt still 150Bhp more, 180Lb ft more, Super fast SCT and better gearing. Im also curious as to why they havent disclosed a ring time for either C7 Models...

@ saxy
Not sure I would say there is no way it would be faster than the ZR1. The speed he is carrying through the uphill esses (if you watched the video) is pretty impressive. Tires and improved track grip help, but he is a good 10-12 mph faster than he was in the ZR1. That tells me the aero is working. Even tires and track surface it would be close, but I think the Z06 edges it out over a ZR1 at this track.

Yeah on such a long track, a good driver a team of tuners and new tires makes a difference of several seconds. And CnDs times were set by journalists... So they really aren't comparable. However I applaud GM for going all out in setting the best time. However, if it weren't for the newer pavement and stickier tires, there's no way it would be faster than the old ZR1

racerns 9y ago
Typically the GM times have been an average of 4.5 sec faster than what C&D gets when testing. Even if you add 5 sec it still puts it 2-3 sec faster than the NISMO and Viper TA.
It is about 4 sec faster than the last ZR1 GM ran at VIR, but that was pre repave and widening which has shown about a 2 sec improvement in lap times. The new Sport Cup2 tires have shown to be 1.8 sec quicker than the old Cups on a different, but shorter track. I would guess that on equal tires The new Z06 would be about .5 sec faster than the ZR1.

Hey guys, I found the source for this time. It's correct.
Driven by Jim Mero(GM Corvette engineer/test driver), so no real comparison to the other laptimes from the journalists at C&D... Sounds like it's got the 7-speed manual.
