The C8 used stock Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and apparently was in the early stage of development so it definitely could be significantly faster with stickier tyres and suspension tweaks.

One can only imagine what a Z06 on Cup R will be able to do - I guess with it going back to N/A it could be a legendary duel against the GT3 RS.

If you put a normal C8 Z51 on good semi-slicks (Cup R or Cup 2 ZP) I agree. The Z06 will most likely be below 7 minutes.

I don't think the Italians are scared. Maybe Mclaren or Porsche would be. Those are more value based sports cars. Performance per dollar. Italian cars are more about the zest. If Lamborghini and Ferrari were so obsessed with laptimes, they'd put giant sticky tires with huge wings on the back. Not sure that makes them better cars in that form.

Well it's not like they don't do that. A 488 Pista has Cup R-tires, an Aventador SVJ has Tropheo R-tires and a rear wing. I just think these Italian track variants have smaller or no wings to not sacrifice straight line speed on the track that much.
