I don't think so, this is a fairly tight handling track and it should easily beat the Z06 if that was the case yet its 4 tenths behind

Car was tested in really cold temperatures if I remember right (close to 0° C). Really not ideal conditions. Was an ACR Extreme though, I think it also had the extra splitter on it. Simple customer car from a dealership though, not a press car.

That makes sense, seeing the list of cars it’s slower then, I would’ve thought this would be faster then all of them
DodgeHEMI426 2y ago @jeremyclarkson1
Yeah I thought the same when the test emerged, it should have easily beaten the C7 Z06 Z07 in better conditions (which was one of the fastest cars back then).

In a perfect warmer conditions it should do a 1:29/1:28 but you never know with Auto Bild SC and their Sachsenring laptimes lmao, an AMG GT R being faster then a 720S and Huracan Performante?! 😂

One thing I think is worth factoring in is that they’ve also lapped the Z06 at least 5 times here if not more whereas the ACR has been lapped here once, so maybe Naumann was able to extract the limits of the Z06 more easily

They got the 1:30.47 Min. lap time of the Z06 on the very first try and were only marginally faster in a later test.
And tbh I always thought AB: sportscars results made a lot of sense and seemed to be free of bias. They got significantly better performance out of non-German cars than for example "Sport Auto" did, which usually only seem to be able to produce great results with German cars.
The GT R has amazing grippy tires (same ones as the C7 Z06) I think that's why it's ahead of the 720S and Performante.
jeremyclarkson1 1y ago @DodgeHEMI426
maybe, i still feel like the performante and 720s shouldnt be slower then the 911 gt2 rs on cup 2's though, for example at le mans the 720s did a 1:41.65, huracan 1:42.49, gt2 rs 1:44.35 on cup 2's.
also good point, i think the z06 1:30.26 has room for improvement as that was a manual and the auto is usually a bit faster

For the 720S it's important to know that especially in the beginning they were usually sent to tests with normal UHP-tires and not semi-slicks. There's a big difference between Trofeo R-equipped 720S and those that came on UHP-tires (P Zero?).
I think they tested several auto-Z06s as well and were never faster. I've seen the same phenomenon with ZL1 1LE Camaros, where the manual was also just as fast as the auto with a good driver.

nah the 2015 Z06 auto did a 1:30.47 and the 2015 Z06 Manual did a 1:30.85 but the 2017 Z06 Manual did a 1:30.26 and im pretty sure the 2017 model got some updates to make it better on track
also the 720s was mostly given p zero corsas, the same car autobild used sport auto france used
