The ZR1 proved itself on any track, except for the Nürburgring. If this doesn't prove that only the car maker with the bigger pockets/sponsors can take the win then I don't know what does.
I'd consider putting Laguna Seca or VIR as the standard for track times. Not the green hell.

Still an impressively fast lap, as this is the full configuration. 6:45 if we were talking about the old 20600m layout. With a proper driver, this car should certainly be in the GT2RS MR region.

It really shows how much an experienced driver can make a difference over a much longer and difficult track like the Nurburgring, where running over a certain curb makes you go faster, but running over another curb means certain death spiral.

Porsche fanboys will laugh at this. But considering this was run by an engineer and not a 1000+ hour race driver, this is still pretty impressive

This, if anything, shows us how having a local track advantage matters. The ZR1 is rewriting every american track lap record whilst it couldn't break through the GT BS's damp lap of 6.48min. Chevy does need to get themselves a professional driver who's used to the layout to extract more time out of the car and possibly get a low 6.40 lap done. Nevertheless, this thing cannot hide its weight in the corners and braking. Around 1730kg kerb weighed by Car and Driver. That's SF90 territory and the latter is AWD and is a hybrid.
