Insane. So much for not living up to the old CSL

Yup. I think this CSL is actually faster relative to competition, than the old CSL.

I mean, it's probably as light as any modern front engined ferrari, but with super aggressive cup 2R tires. It's was always going to be quite a weapon around the track.

Yeah I agree. It certainly lived up to its name. It may not be a GT3 let alone GT3 RS competitor, but for what it is you really can't complain what it has to offer.
Also let's be honest, the M3 CSL wasn't perfect either. Especially that sluggish SMG restricted it in a way the Porsche models of its time weren't.

Interestingly enough, E46 M3 CSL was also one of the first cars to be fitted with semislick tires from the factory. And in many ways it was reason why it was as fast on the track as the flagship Lambo at the time.

Really fast indeed. I wonder what it would do on "normal" Cup 2-tires though. I fear it wouldn't be much faster than its little brother. Cup R-tires are animals.

That's a VERY tidy little laptime!
