I am sure that given Randy Pobst or some other really good driver that it could indeed do the Nurburgring in under 8 minutes. I think newer tires would also bring it to under 8 minutes.

Actually a good example of this is the Hyundai i30 N, which also did 8:05 with Trofeo R tyres and the Honda Civic Type R did 7:57 with Cup 2's
