Didn't you tell me this would murder the Corvette C8 ZR1X which did an 8.675 when GM tested and so far an 8.9 in independent magazine testing without GM-engineers on site?

It did.

8.65 is on prepped surface lol.

8.9 is with rollout.

We obviously have a very different understanding of "murdering" lol

The 8.9 sec. result is with the high-downforce kit which certainly hurts it in the 1/4-mile (seen by 6 mph slower trap speed).

Quattroruote, consistently putting out numbers that other magazines can hardly match even with 1-ft-rollout, doing an 8.8 with a whole fleet of Ferrari-engineers on site is hardly as impressive as you make it out to be. It's solid, don't get me wrong, but at best 0.3 seconds ahead of the ZR1X with high-downforce aero. Brooks from dragtimes.com just did an 8.8 sec. ET on the first weekend with his ZR1X on unprepped surface.

The standard aero ZR1X will be extremely close to the F80 under similar circumstances.

Yes but it is also with 0.2s rollout. That would be a 9.1s

doing an 8.8 with a whole fleet of Ferrari-engineers on site is hardly as impressive as you make it out to be

I think the problem is here. You say it isnt as impressive. I don't care if it is impressive or not, i just care that it did it quicker that the ZR1X.

Brooks from dragtimes.com just did an 8.8 sec. ET on the first weekend with his ZR1X on unprepped surface

Where? In the video where he takes off the aero? Note that he didnt just take off the ZTK package he took off ALL aero add-ons so it has even less than the stock ZR1X.
Still, it implies that the ZR1X needs to take off it's aero pacakge completely to get close to the F80's first dataset, and put it on again to perform even remotely close to it on track.

The F80 is faster both on track and on a straight line without needing to change anything. The ZR1X is in a situation similar to Jesko, Attack for track and Absolut for speed, can't have both, with the F80 you can.

It's really not impressive when that time was done by 4route who are known for tweaking Italian cars or letting them run better times. You literally take a stat from a biased auto magazine and act like this is the true evidence that your team is better than the other.
The ZR1X literally just needs a set of different tires and a model without the bodykit, and it would be faster than the F80. For not even a tenth of the price.

TL:DR cope harder

No evidence. You are now going into the hypothetical. What actually happened, the data, proves my point. Saying the source of the data is not reliable is a clear sign of not kowing what to say, the lowest form of critique.

The ZR1X literally just needs a set of different tires and a model without the bodykit

Different tyres? They were both run on the best out there, Pilot Sport Cup 2 R. The non-ZTK isnt comparable on track to the F80, which makes it a lesser complete package. Please note that the 8.9s time for the ZR1X is with rollout, so it's actually 9.1s, that's someone nobody got here apparently.

You claim I don't know what to say when you just bandwagon 4route who have CONSTANTLY been lying about performance stats and are somehow always faster with Italian cars than with the competition. At this point I can't even tell anymore if you're just ragebaiting or not.

Ah yes, the "it was with rollout" excuse, as if 4route wouldn't test with excessive rollout as well. Like I said in the beginning, I'm not taking any claims seriously, and especially not when it's taken by biased auto magazines. Let them test together once and for all, and even if the Ferrari is slightly faster, you're still wasting 4 million for a car that doesn't have a V12 and is just not a real Ferrari in the eyes of many.

Yes, that's why I said the F80 is at best 0.3 seconds ahead the F80. F80 did 8.8 sec., the ZR1X did an 8.9 sec. with rollout which equals a 9.1 sec. without rollout. So I have no idea why you say that apparently nobody here got that even though I acknowledge it. But again, that was with the high-downforce ZTK-package. Everybody knows the non-ZTK is better for the 1/4-mile (that's why GM used that). Not to mention that test took place without GM-engineers on site.

My only gripe is with you guessing the F80 will murder the ZR1X on the 1/4-mile which it clearly doesn't. It's marginally quicker in the hands of the magazine in Europe that seems to extract the best acceleration-data out of Ferraris and Lambos by a long shot and with several Ferrari-engineers on site.

Again, I'm aware the F80 is the better vehicle if we put cost aside and that it combines ZTK-track performance with non-ZTK-drag performance. That's not the point.

Then we just have different definitions of a big gap, it's very likely.

Giving the benefit of rollout to the ZR1X ZTK:
8.9s @155mph vs 8.8s @160mph equals to around 7 meters or 1½ car lenghts.

Without rollout to the ZR1X (fair comparison):
9.1s @155mph vs 8.8s @160mph is a difference of 70 feet or 4 to 5 car lenghts. That's a huge gap, even just asking it to Google will tell you so.

I think that the non-ZTK could do a 9.0s @157mph without rollout.

Probably. Have you ever been to a drag racing-event, let alone driven yourself? Even 0.3 seconds isn't "murdering" at all, your opponent is actually reeeeaaally close.

Now we take the ZTK-package off the Corvette and have half a dozen of GM-engineers ready that prepare the car just like they did for the 8.675-record. You'll most likely pick up at least 0.1 seconds given the almost non-existent traction issues of the ZR1X on normal tarmac. It's probably rather 0.2 seconds and 4-5 mph in trap speed. And suddenly, under comparable circumstances, the difference between the two is 0.1 seconds and 1-2 mph trap speed. That's as close as it gets and results will change between runs depending on who gets the better launch each time.

I'm ready for the ECU tunes. Probably will go down in times even more. The fact that it's so close already isn't exactly bad for Ferrari, but absolutely insane for GM. They never had a car before that could rival a Ferrari top model before, except maybe the C6 ZR1 vs the outdated Enzo in 2009

ZR1X non-ZTK vs F80 would be closer, but still, ZR1X ZTK vs F80 i think still has an obvious outcome.

We've already covered all "what if" situations, i think the only way the ZR1X could get very close to the F80 is a non-ZTK ran by the manufacturer itself.

Also remember, we are taking as "optimal" the only result we have for the F80, ot might go faster.

Again, for me it's not about the ZR1X beating the Ferrari, it's how close the fight is. And contrary to what you say it absolutely is close. You say the ZR1X needs factory support to get close to the F80 which is kinda ridiculous, given that the F80 HAD factory support while all the magazine tests of the ZR1X came without it. I say if you have both cars with OR without factory support - the important part is it's the same for both - you'll have a race between an F80 and a non-ZTK ZR1X. And I'm really curious because I can absolutely see Brooks from dragtimes.com organizing such a race in the future. And he already did an 8.8 without any factory support. Yes, as a ZTK with ZTK-delete he has a minor advantage because it has no rear spoiler/wing at all but that will hardly make a difference to a non-ZTK-car if you say the difference between ZTK and non-ZTK is only 0.1 seconds. Because there the aerodynamic difference in drag is in theory huge.

As for the only result for the F80: Yes but also it's Quattroruote. We both know well enough what that means. Especially because they already beat Ferrari's 0-200 kph-claim by quite a significant margin. I doubt Ferrari will lend that car to other testers but if they did I wouldn't be surprised to see results that are a few tenths behind.

Then i fear we just have different views.

I really don't care how close they are or how impressive one result is over the other, i just care that one is faster.

And he already did an 8.8 without any factory support.

Yeah because it's in the right order for you. We all know how much different this sounds when it's the other way around... And that's what's sad about discussing with you. You have quite a lot of knowledge by now and would be a very interesting discussion partner if your bias wasn't SO obvious and if you wouldn't change your style of arguments completely depending on if "the right" car is ahead.

Nope, he did the 8.8 on normal asphalt. Confirmed on his IG. He also beat GM's ET for the ZR1 - I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an 8.5-8.6 on the prepped strip at some point.

I mean not really, i have no problem in saying the ZR1X is better value and is more impressive due to it being just a vette and almost matching an hypercar.

This is the only one i could find. 8.74 on prepped surface from him.

I'm sorry but that ship has sailed LOL Although obviously changes are welcome.

Brooks always tests with proper equipment as well. So we'll see. I guess he wouldn't throw numbers around (also in the comments) if they weren't properly backed. Guy is also amazing at extracting performance from cars.

he did not say anhything in his latest video about new tests though.

as you can see the bio of the video says "From yesterday's 1 mile test passes..." asking if it is accurate, well it isnt since in that video.

he did 9.4 on un-prepped surface, we'll see what he does in the future.

So, it turns out the F80 is narrowly quicker than the ZR1-X, at least in a 1/4 mile run. This is impressive, but to me the Corvette is the more impressive car, since its able to keep up with the top of the line Ferrari at all, while being 7x less expensive, and STILL being faster in top end speed.

I'm actually giving kudos to your text because its' written quite well and you make some valid points.

Yes, the F80 is obviously a "better" and more extreme car, no doubts about it. However, and this is what makes the ZR1X so impressive, it delivers 90-95% of the F80s performance for 5% of the price. You get all this shit in the comments because you are unable to appreciate that, which makes the ZR1X in itself an engineering marvel just as impressive as the "cost no object" F80.

Indeed, but as you said it delivers 95% of the performance for 5% of the price, yet for all the reasons i already mentioned it very likely does not deliver even half of the driving experience of the F80.

It would be stupid to say that the ZR1/ZR1X isnt better value, but the F80 is the pinnacle of engineering, plus it has the Ferrari badge heritage.

The ZR1X is a simpler formula, more power, big wing.
The F80 is a complete package made up by an immense amount of parts engineered to all deliver The best possible global experience.

It's like comparing a mid-range Android and a mid-range iPhone. Midrange Android have bad software, they may deliver similar performance for less money but the iPhone will be more refined and overall just better.

What's so concerning about it? The Ferrari badge alone carries a premium 🤷. Koenigsegg simply doesn't have the same racing pedigree or brand legacy , and the resale market arguably reflects that. The Enzo, SP3, LaFerrari Coupé, and Aperta all command higher values than the ccx, Regera, Agera (excluding the One:1), and Jesko. On top of that you need to keep in mind the reliability factor

Well, guess you're right.
But considering at what level Corvette plays at this point, you can't help yourself but respect both cars.
The ZR1X isn't just historically better than ever, it also somehow manages to be over 10 times cheaper too. I mean think about it, no Ferrari has ever been that expensive out of the box. 4 million dollars. 10 years ago you could have bought almost 3 LaF's for that. Even with all of that tech and speed, it just never will be worth it. Especially without a V12.

Also consider this: a C4 ZR1 couldn't touch an F40. A C6 ZR1 couldn't touch a LaFerrari, and a C7 ZR1 certainly couldn't either. But now a twin turbo hybrid V8 is matching the "pinnacle" of Ferrari? Something to consider.

Price, price, price! Ferrari charges 4 million because there’s a market for it. Chevrolet can’t put a 500-thousand-dollar price tag on a Corvette—otherwise, it wouldn’t sell, no matter how good it is.

Both the F80 and the ZR1X are incredible!

I beg to differ: I'm quite certain GM would have no problem whatsoever selling a limited 500k Hyper-Corvette. If they build a radical tracktoy out of the ZR1 they will easily find 500 people that are willing to put down half a million. Hell, I mean Ford has no issues finding over a thousand buyers for a nearly 400k US$ Mustang.

But yes, compared to Ferraris hypercars we are obviously in different worlds.
