Motor Trend is so full of crap when it come to rating / reviewing cars.

Wait until a legit source such as Car and Driver / Road & Track test them.

They certainly will NOT rate the GTR #1 as the best "Drivers car". They"ll have it rates towards the bottom where it should be.

These morons at Motor Trend are trying to convince people that the LFA is not as good as a drivers car vs. the GTR, Z06, Boss 302, etc.. LOL they are so full of it!!!

Randy is a great driver but something is difinately going on behind the screens to come up with those bogus ratings. The lap times seem okay BUT reviews / overall ratings are mostly crap.

The only reason the Cayman R didn't place above the GT3 RS was due to TIRES / BRAKES. This makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the GTR placing ahead of ANY of the Porsche's (GT3 RS / Cayman R) Lotus Evora S, Lexus LFA, and Audi R8. The Ferrari 458 Taking first is about right al though the Lexus LFA is realistically just as good / better.

Just wait and see how legit sources test and you'll see how close I am.

Interesting is that some of the cars are on semi-slicks and others not.... Curiously about the GT-R, Randy says "it runs on full-on 200 tread street tyres".

458: Michelin Pilot Super Sport K1
GT-R:Dunlop SPort MaxxCT600DSST CTT -road tire (200)
R8GT:Pirelli PZero Corsa "R" (60)
Z06:Michelin Pilot Sport Cup ZP "R" (80)
GT3RS:Michelin Pilot Sport Cup "R" (80)
1M:Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 -road tire (220)
CaymanR:Bridgestone Potenza RE050A - road (140)(280)
EvoraS:Pirelli PZero Corsa "R" (60)
Boss302:Pirelli PZero Corsa "R" (60)
LFA:Bridgestone Potenza S001 (280)
SLS:Conti 5p -road (240)(280)

just to nota that all are street legal, just "R" are listed under "track and competition DOT" because that's what they're actually made for.

@annoyingimus: look at the page for the 458 italia.. i listed the tyres that Motortrend published on their site.. presumably all cars are indeed running those tyres..

as far as I understood, R8 and gt3 were on "R" compound, while Corvette had special "R" compound with 1/4 of tire without thread - slick. They said that Ferrari and Nissan were on "street" tires.

@anonim: Randy said it understeered and pushed wide under power even though the R8GT used corsa tyres... doesn't sound like a gearbox problem as much as a lack in neutral handling under power.
If the quote from Randy is correct about the GT-R's tyres being streettyres its the only top-performer in the test not using semi-slicks...

the r8gt don't have a decent gearbog, this is the reason why the lap times are so bad.
the automatic gerabox from R8 is almoust the same like in VW passat from 1995.
with double clutch, the R8(V8, V10 or GT) coud have better lap times with few tenths. when the R8 will have a face lift, it will recive double clutch.

Just shows how truly amazing the GT-R's AWD system is. Beats the lighter, more powerful also AWD Audi R8 GT somehow.

Car looked good but weight is holding it back from faster times. Two tons is hard to overcome.
