I disagree, with BMW G8X cars there doesnt actually seem to be a HUGE difference,

M3 CS Touring (Cup 2 R): 7:28.21
M3 Comp Touring (Cup 2): 7:34.39

These are all newer Michelin-tires though. As far as I know they changed all the tires, meaning Cup 2 G8X isn't the same as Cup 2 on F82.

And with the way brands collaborate for their own versions of those compounds it's even more believable that it's not the same cup 2 from prior tbh.
Probably cup 2 with some code string after it and a slightly specialised or updated version of the compound like how Hyundai gets special "HN" on their Pirellis, or Porsche's "N0" rating on their Michelins, specifically Cup 2 "N0" in fact on their late Carrera GT shenanigans. Lol.

while i agree, i do still think ur earlier estimate of 10 seconds might be a bit rich. these tires are animals and do wear out quite rapidly compared to say, the trofeo rs or standard cup 2. i think even andreas preuniger or lars kern (cant remember which) said that with the 992.1 gt3s nurburgring time against the 991.2, 5 seconds would be accountable for the cup 2 r
