Tires alone are a huge factor. The same car did a 7:22 a few years later with Cup 2-tires and some other ugrades from the factory.

Actually they were the older Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, not Cup 2, and yeah that was done with Jim Mero and had the Z07 Package which I think was like $15k? Relative bargain when you consider the leap in performance
