Road America

Road America is a permanent road course. It is located midway between the cities of Milwaukee and Green Bay. The track is situated on 640 acres (2.6 km2) in Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine and it is located near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive. It has hosted races since September 1955 and currently hosts over 400 events a year.[4] Of its annual events, 9 major weekends are open to the public which include 3 motorcycle events including the MotoAmerica (AMA FIM) series, 3 vintage car events, Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) events, the United Sports Car Racing Series, the Pirelli World Challenge, and the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Road America is one of only a handful of road circuits in the world maintaining its original configuration[4] being 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached. One of the best known features of this course is a turn on the backside known as "the kink." Road America's open seating allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds. Grandstands are available in several locations, as well as permanent hillside seating where crowds of more than 150,000 can be accommodated.

Though not road legal, 2:08.56 for gt2rs clubsport
interesting that a clubsport out of the box without set up or factory support was 7 seconds faster than a GT2RS.

Road America is a fast track where horsepower makes a significant difference as was evident in this comparison. Shame they didn't add a GPS speedo with the tacho to highlight how much faster the GT2RS was in the straights. The 6.6 sec difference between the stock GT2RS was big but the Clubsport did have upgraded suspension and slicks with a faster driver so it just goes to show what is possible with those factors.

Yeah it would have been interesting to see how much faster the club sport was in the carassel corner. Still though, a GTE pole lap in qualifying will do 2:01. Efficient aero and low weight is still very powerful even if it only has like 520hp

A GT3 race car can lap the 20.6 km Nurb in approx 6:26 which is 30 sec faster than a GT3RS on Cup2R's so it just goes to show how much of a difference less weight with slicks makes to corner speed and braking.

weight difference multiplies everything from grip, downforce to weight ratio, and acceleration.

But the biggest factor difference between a GT3 race car and GT3RS is tires. Not only is the race car on slicks, it's got 315-325 section fronts, for a 1250kg car. While the gt3rs has 265 fronts 1450kg. Even the Gt2rs clubsport only has 265 section fronts.

Higher mechanical grip leads to higher speeds which lead to higher downforce.
