Thunderhill Park West lap times

So now I finally have a car able to do track days at Thunderhill West. My new plan is to drive the 2010 Panamera 4S on track with just a few minor track preparations: Michelin Cup 2 tires; Castrol SRF brake fluid; EBC Yellowstuff brake pads; and a custom alignment. I think that I will need about -1.5 degrees of negative camber front and rear with zero toe, but I will confer with the experts at IPB Autosports in downtown Sacramento.

I have analyzed Thunderhill West since it is my local track. I think that a stock 2007 Corvette Z51 with six speed automatic and run-flat Goodyear tires would do a 1:30.00 lap time, with my current Sumitomo HTR Z5 tires I might get it down to a 1:29.00.

I think that the 2011 Panamera S with the original wheels and tires would do a 1:28.50. On the wheels and tires that it has now it is probably 5 seconds slower, so probably a 1:33.50.

I think that with $4700 worth of tires, brakes, oil pan baffle, and alignment plus another $2600 worth of intake mods for a total of $7300 that my 2007 Corvette will become 8 seconds faster at Thunderhill West. According to the calculations that means a 1:21.00 to 1:22.00 lap time!

I will need to use only 2nd and 3rd gear at Thunderhill West. 2nd gear hits redline at 80 mph, 3rd gear redlines at 124 mph. My top speed on the straights will probably reach about 110 mph. I will be continuing my analysis and track video watching until I can afford all the track mods.

Looking at the lap times, it appears that Jethro Bovingdon is a better driver than either Mike Austin or Travis Okulski.

1997 Corvette with Yokohama A052 tires and Carbotech brakes. Very skillful driving, I will need to study the braking points and racing lines.

I just found the video below, the driver said he is using Toyo RR tyres, but I don't know what modifications he has done to his Corvette. I will be analyzing this video.

This is my local race track, it is an hour North of me. I am thinking of doing track days starting next year. My current plan is to use Carbotech XP10/XP8 brake pads and Hoosier Track Attack Pro tyres. I will need a new helmet as well. Looking at the track and lap times, I think that with practice I should be able to get close to a 1:25ish lap time. Maybe even faster with those Hoosiers.

This track is only an hour North of Sacramento, so I might do a track day here sometime.

Looking forward to driving Thunderhill West for the first time later this week. Have been practicing in Assetto Corsa, with the stock MX-5 ND1. Hitting 1:33s, fastest I've done is 132.6. My real car is an ND2 (30AE), stock except for a new set of RT660s. Hopefully I can get under 1:40 by end of day. :D
