@Apathy, Well, you've proven me wrong, that MT pass time doesn't lie. But as you don't believe me on my experiance, I can't belive you on yours. Stock, that's as fast as brand new camaro ss, so unless you've had some serious time at the strip, I've got to doubt it.

@monkeypop I know I've been proven wrong in general but what happened happened. His car was a WS6 Trans Am(that may explain it) and if he was a bad driver he was beter than me, 'cause that was the first time I'd ever gone drag racing, and it wasn't his.

Here's an old article of an 01 cobra versus an 01 Camaro SS:
http://www.stangbangers.com/01_CobraVsCamaroSS_Article.htm

Their Camaro ran a 13.49@107.34

And I updated the camaro SS page

ROD,

When I had my 98 Z28 (LS1 obviously), it ran the following:

Stock: 13.2 @ 108
Bolt ons (intake, headers, exhaust, stall): 12.6@111
Cam (MS3): 12.0@114
H/C/I (MS3, ported 243's, fast 90/90): 11.1@122

You have only encountered freakishly slow LS1's if you're being honest.

And before you discount me as an LS1 nutswinger, I currently own an 03 ZY cobra with a pulley and a tune...
I miss my LS1 honestly, and frankly, it would beat my cobra from a dig most likely.

ROD.

My LS1 trans am ran mid 13's no problem when it was stock. Hell my wife ran 13's.

If you know people with LS1 F bodies and they are running 15 second quarters then there is either something wrong with the driver or the car.

@Viking Once again, very late reply, I usually don't stop to look at the comments and I forget about the ones I post, but anyway the LS1's. Everyone tries to say they're low 13 second cars, but I have never seen them do that in reality or even on T.V. That's overrated to me, but it does have more to do with the people than the car, and I mean that, I had a guy try to tell me that he ran low 12's-11's in his LS1.

I like the shaker hood scoop on these Mach 1 Mustangs. That is a really groovy feature. I wish it were available on the newer Mustangs. Of course, I know the intake takes a circuitous route from the hood scoop to the intake manifold, and probably isn't nearly as efficient as the into the fender route, but it still looks great shaking when revved.

@Rod I have to disagree with you there. I don't think LS1s are overrated. They are light weight engines, with a strong power band. If you are referring to the Camaro/Firebird models with LS1s, they might have a few issues, in particular they have rather cheap interiors. Corvettes with LS1s have insufficient ground clearance for normal driving, but excellent fuel economy for a 5.7 liter V8.

Ls1's are overrated, they are normally 14-15 second cars, and I've seen numerous mach 1's beat it. Let's not forget, 05-09 mustangs made made quick work of them too

The Mach 1 posted better quarter mile times in Motor Trend and some other mags. They both were pretty close. I watched plenty of them square off when they were new and the races were always close. Those better times represent Ford finally starting to understand that putting more gear behind a super high revving motor is necessary to keep it in its power band.

They have about the same power to weight ratio. The 5-Speed Mach hits 107 in the quarter.

13.2's??? .... no. No 98 to 02 ls1 camaro EVER lost to a mach 1 . Since this site lists those camaros as high 13 second cars, something must give. Hey , don't take my word, Mustang magazines back then were itching to beat the all mighty ls1 Camaro, the Mach1 did not. Personally i've raced several, on track and street... the BEST i've ever seen run was 13.6 at 104... most run high 13's at 102. Stock ls1 camaros are LOW 13 second cars at over 106. Remember the Ls1 engines are PROVEN to make 350hp stock, the Mach 1 makes its' advertised 310. (same weight)
