I have a japanese import 2010 and it is 30 hp over the UK spec 2.3 S-line. I would advise buying a overseas car with higher compression and not limited to exhaust emissions.

I have the 2010 BMW 2,3is model. I don't recommend any one in buying this car. The thing feels heavy around corners as well as in coming out of tight parking spaces. It hardly accelerates from 0 to 100km/h despite the impressive 6,8 seconds given by most review mags, plus the drive is extremely harsh & uncomfortable. Definitely not an everyday car & not built for the track because of its slow acceleration nature. Besides, the ordinary buyer for it, does not buy it to take it to the track, but rather spends a lot of money on two seats thinking that they are buying a luxurious BMW only to find out you shall get more comfort and acceleration out of the entry level Toyota. However, you can go for the top 3.5 is. No major complaints there except the price tag.
