@ Fangio Man: I figured it was a Ford engine because De Tomaso has used Ford engines in the past in the Pantera, and as far as I know, Ford was the only company building a 4.6 liter engine in 1994, and 1994 was the first year for the 4.6 liter V8.

Correct.

The BMW V8 was used from 1994-1998, the Ford V8 from 1998-2004.

The engine must be a modified version of the 4.6 liter V8 found in the Ford Mustang GT from the same year.
