My favorite Subaru. I saw a black one several years ago and man was it sweet. Disappointed to see it's a 4 speed auto, but I'd still love to have one. :)

This is not a concept! These cars were produced from 1991-1996. It was one of Subarus fastest cars at the time.

3.3 flat six cylinder engine. I remember.

Yes indeed! the 3.3L flat six was also Subarus largest engine to date.

Would love to see a lap time on this. It was an Indy Pace car for several years because it was such a favorite. Introduced in 1991 at the same time as the S2 and stopped in 97 2 years after the S2.

Autombile magazine raved the SVX sounded better than a Porsche, was smooth as a Lexus, and handled like a German sports car. The body was designed by Guigiaro of Italdesign with McLaren F1 style windows and the engines are still used in small aircraft costing $45k. Comparable to a 2009 BMW 328xi Coupe today and still 200 lbs. lighter, this car was way ahead of it's time. All cars came with a heavy auto and Subaru didn't have a luxury brand which hurt sales. My car has an STi RA 5sp with 4.44 diffs that brings the weight to 3,450 lbs., same as a new 911 C4. 1,000hp twin turbo motors can be had for $10k from www.engine-machining.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhGu0dciwBo
