@FastestLaps

The quarter mile of 14 is just an estimate of Car and Driver, not an actual measurement, read again the review please and delete the 1/4 mile

the 750i and 500s are the wrong models to compare with the 4.2l A8
the A8 4.2 quattro cost 89,300Euro
the BMW 750i xdrive 101,000Euro
the S500 4matic 101,000Euro

For under 90,000Euro in the A84.2 quattro price range you only get a 340PS S450 4matic or a 326PS 740iL for 84,100Euro...

it is slower than s500 and 750i

I don't really agree with you. Sure the Diesel is a great engine, but the Petrol weighs 160kg less, so it is going to be a lot sportier to drive. Besides, at higher speeds the Diesel will definetely fall back, as all Diesel versions do. Of course economy and torque-wise, the Diesel is far ahead. Stil I would take the Petrol engine because I like sporty driving and above all, I love V8 petrol sounds :)
Obviously I can't afford the car, I have an old D2 A8 4.2 (from 94, the D2 is still the best looking model :)).
Please excuse my orthographic mistakes, I'm not a native.

Wow, that is big news!

Btw: the big TDI V8 version is 10x better in every way (other than price I believe) than the petrol.
