Ugly!
But really impressive data!
Are there any claims/tests about the topspeed?

@caymanman (not that you'll respond)
I have driven both a Lotus and a Caterham and I live in NY. In fact, I see at least one of each every time I go to Watkins Glenn. Also, there's a Caterham dealership not too far from the Glenn.
Maybe you should think about what you say in the future so that you don't inadvertently speak of things you know nothing about.

The link points to the relatively new "coupé".

Using the actual max speed a 7:11/12 (or somewhere near that) seemed possible..
They comepletly redesigned the square tubing frame, complete suspension geometry and most of the materials used over the more than 25 years they have been building their own car compared to the Lotus 7. The chassis is solded not welded and the frame for the windscreen is carbon/kevlar for extra strength/safety yet keeping the aluminium car light. The suspension uses dampers from WP (that supplied Benetton F1 when Schumy won the title there if i remember correctly. Prduction volume is low 50cars probably. Fantastic sportscar to drive but not very usefull in normal life although with te suspension on "softisch" its very liveable in daily driving.

This car is actually a standard D8 RS with a rather ugly big rear spoiler and a roof. the normal roadcars are open with a cloth roof. Since its a handbuilt car and each one is build to order it was very simple to mke this one and put it on a license. The record breaking car had the engine (audi 1.8 turbo) turned up to 370hp but it couldn't really use the power since a mechanical failure limited the car to 240km/h which it does very easily with the regular 270hp under the hood. The suspension is adjustable for low and higher frequency and breaking balance can be adjusted in the cockpit. The nose is quite clever in that it has spoilers inside the nosecone ahead of the engine making the nose more aerodynamic, improving cooling and generating some downforce al at the same time.

I have a Swiss friend who owns the exact same car that he drives on the open roads. His has a twin-turbo Audi four cyl, making roughly 650 hp and it only weighs in at about 1400 lbs.

Donkervoort has taken the original Lotus Seven purist thinking and by using Dutch craftmanship and modern technology (engines, gears, transmission, etc) has made an incredible CAR. All capitals intended. I used to own one, not this beast that is now called the D8 270 RS but a lesser engined D8 Zetec with open cockpit. I have driven many cars but this one has remained a true favorite: incredible performance, road holding and information on what the car does. Harsh? Yes - if it rains. On dry tarmac it is actually easier to drive then many 'sports' cars because they are bloated and need all kinds of electronic stuff to keep them on the road.
Truly recommended.

Real car people Anonymous ??
A Clubman is a rear wheel drive, no power steering, no power brakes and no traction control.. How real do you want to get ?
I bet your v8 does a good burnout and is rally quick in a straight line (by your standards).

Excuse me, Could anybody tell me what the IFC, IT, FC mean? please.
FC = factory claime
IT = independent test most likely by a car magazine
IFC = independent observed factory claim... many small producer ask sportauto for support if they do northloop time attack runs

"If it passes FIA Rules, then the car is road legal."
So. Yer saying that any car that's class-legal for any of the FIA's sports-racing series in Europe has to be, and is, street legal in the EU.?????
Anonymous 17y ago
may be, but to real car people, this will never be more than a race car, same with radicals, not a real car.
