I have this car at 235.000km right now and I can safely say it's one of the best economy cars I've driven. It's spacey, practical, fast (enough) and very comfortable on long trips.
Considering gas prices have exploded in Germany and I'm basically forced to save up on fuel even more, I got to the point where I travel 113-118kph GPS on the Autobahn (77 combined).
With a full tank I achieved a maximum range of 1360 kilometers or 845 miles for the Americans among us. For a 13 year old car that's genuinely impressive

Cars and engines that don't have major design flaws will last long time, if the owner (and previous owners) follows maintenance recommendations.

If you bought Opel Insignia 2.0 diesel, that one, for example, did have design flaws in the engine. And maybe it would have been engine swapped or scrapped by now...

In my country, engines tend to outlast bodies, because roads are heavily salted in winter, which, in the grand scheme of things, probably causes more economic and environmental harm than good.

I can't say the same about our family cars, they always have something that ruins our mood :D

As for mine I really have only minimal issues with it. I had a flat tire once, oil change a few months ago, one of my bulbs said farewell. But except for that, nothing. I owned it for 2 years and I'm starting to wonder if that car was secretly made by Toyota.

Ah yes, the Insignia. I remember that car. In hindsight, I can't find anything that sparks my interest for it though. The platform alone was so heavy it would have been more fit on a Mercedes E-Class or Audi S4 of the time. I didn't weigh my Mondeo but the brochure says something about 1550kg which is super nimble for a car of its size.

I have absolutely no issue taking sharp corners with this thing to the likes of a Focus. Ford sure knows how to make dynamic suspensions.

Wow nice
I do about 350 kms average with half a tank of Peugeot 405 which is about 35 liters combined
My record is I think about 480 kms with half a tank which most of it was in a 300+km roadtrip
