I know that, i was just pointing it out, i think Convertible Models, of almost any car just ruin it for me, However, certain Companys can add Beauty to there cars rather then take away from it.

All 911s look Great with the Top Chopped, same with the Corvettes, Audis look bad, SOME Ferraris, i thought the 430 looked good in Spyder form, 458 not bad either, MP4 looks horrid with no top, so do Mustangs, not only adding weight and ruining performance, it just Makes the car look worse..

HOWEVER, a Convertible Mustang on a Beach..Looks wonderful!

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

@ BR2: It's not convertible model. This is hardtop model and the only 1 Shelby that using hardtop rather than fastback.

User avatar

BR2,  13y ago

These GT500s do look good, as long as there not Drop Tops, im not a fan of Convertible Mustangs, Dont like the color, would look much better in Black or Purple.

I wonder if Fod has any Plans on bring back the Boss 429? That would kick Arse!

...(But its not like the 2013 GT500 need more Power-_-..

The very small Sports car from Alfa Romeo , Giulia sprint GT veloce comes with Cd of 42 in 1966 , well Cd 43 was very good for 1968 Shelby Mustang , and I agree with Viking the 68 looks great .

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

Well, a Cd of 0.43 is pretty good for 1968, and I suspect the frontal area is less than the modern Mustang's 24.2 square feet. So, not a whole lot of improvement in overall drag over 40 plus years. Besides, the '68 looks great.

Cd.43 I Believe. Todays GT500 Cd.36, Its an Improvement...albeit 40years.....-_-

It was fun to blow off a Porsche with a $3900 donkey.

You Know, Im not sure that sounds so good to me.............

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

The window sticker on my car showed $40,241 if I remember correctly. However, I actually paid $35k when all the haggling was done. My car is pretty loaded, I have the Brembo brake package, 3.73 rear axle, the electronics package, heated seats, accessory package number five (hood scoop, side scoops, side window louvers, big rear wing), as well as the dealer installed louvers on the rear window. I think a less loaded example could be acquired for roughly $30k U.S. dollars.

At least it's better than Chevy Chevelle.

@ Viking : I really like this phrase!
"It was fun to blow off a Porsche with a $3900 donkey [the 1965 Shelby GT350 Mustang]." Carroll Shelby said that

I kind of wonder what the coefficient of drag is on the 1st generation fastbacks, and what the frontal area is as well, so we could get a CdA for these cars. I suspect the Cd might not be that impressive, but when combined with the relatively small frontal area it might be okay. Good enough to run at pretty high speeds if the gearing allows for it. One of the biggest improvements in the 2011 is having six speeds, a definite improvement over the four speed Mustangs of my youth.

Super8  13y ago

@ Viking: By the way, how much the price of Mustang GT Coyote in USA?

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

The fastback GT had more good aerodynamic than hardtop and some Ford full size car. If i put 427 FE from my Galaxie into 67-68 GT Fastback, i believe it could outrun my father 1970 Chevelle SS.

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

Yeah, I always liked Mustang fastbacks. My car has as much of a retro look as I could get for a 2011. I have side scoops, hood scoop, side window louvers, and sport slats (louvers) on the rear window of the fastback. It is in Sterling Grey Metallic, so I have that metal flake look while still looking sophisticated. I still think the car is a bit too tall, it is nearly 56 inches tall, but the center of gravity is still relatively low at 21 inches. I think the 1st generations look better, but my car is ridiculously fast and good handling, so I shouldn't complain too much. The sound of the Coyote V8 is very impressive as well, very similar to the old big blocks, but with a higher rev range.

Super8  13y ago

@ Viking: If i was the producer back then, i will choose Fastback version with 4 Speed manual 3.00 final :D

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

I completely agree. I think Bruce Lee would have enjoyed driving this car. Van Williams might have found the back seat a little cramped, but oh well.

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

@ Viking: This is the only Shelby that using 4 independent suspension and ultra rare 428 Cobra Jet Fuel Injection.

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

@ Viking : The creator of Green Hornet should be using this car not a Chrysler Imperial.

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

@Super8 groovy car. I like the name as well. Back in the sixties my favorite TV show was called the Green Hornet!

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

The specs for Green Hornet Pack:
Paxton Supercharge
Kelsey Hayes heavy duty disc brake (4 of them)
Goodyear Speedway or Polyglas with (W) code
4 Independent Suspension
Fuel Injection 428 Cobra Jet

Motor Trend ever test it in 1995 alongside with 1970 Hemi Cuda cabriolet and 1969 Camaro SS ZL1. They said that this car are very stable on track. The 428 Cobra Jet in this car is not smooth indicate this Cobra Jet it's not underrated and might be racing engine. Also they solve the horsepower and torque problem because both Ford and Shelby never publish it. It said this had 475 Hp @ 5500 rpm and 450 ft-lbs @ 3200 rpm.

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

The car itself is look like 1968 Shelby GT500 KR but with hardtop style roof. It fitted with F350 3 Speed Automatic. Ford and Shelby claim it can reach 157 mph in Ford Proving Ground and reach 5.7 for 0-60 mph and 11.4 for 0-100 mph. However, there's a rumor about another car based on fastback style GT500 model fitted with 4 speed manual and can reach over 170 mph but it's unknown it's real or not. All the car painted in green.

User avatar

Super8  13y ago

It might be dubbed as a prototype car but actually, Green Hornet term become a high performance pack for Shelby GT500 KR only but also possible to order it for Ford Mustang GT/CS under Shelby registration. However due to lack of production number for Ford Mustang in 1968, make this car is difficult to find. And also, there's almost no different between the standard and the Green Hornet version except the performance, rear independent suspension and ultra rare fuel injection 428 Cobra Jet. Some say, this high performance pack is cancelled due to high price. But the other say, you still can order it if you want to pay that high price and for 1968 only. Only one car that known to be exist as an experimental car based on 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS. It's called 1968 Shelby EXP 500.
