At the same time, we had an equivalent. The Cadillac CTS-V2.

Pontiac would still be around if they had brought this over to the U.S sooner.
When they killed off the trans-am they lost the only car in their line up geared for performance. Too bad they brought these over too late.. right before they went under. This is a heck of a car for the price.

This car is made and developed in Australia. Its called the HSV Clubsport R8 by Holden. There is several variants also called the Holden Commodore SS.

Humph...
Proudly made in Australia.
May contain parts imported, designed and built everywhere else though.
The VE commodore is a huge pinch of this and that from about 7 different cars.
I am just belly-aching though, most manufacturers do the same. This FORD at heart bloke wouldn't mind the Walkinshaw or Senator though ;)
The VZ Calais my wife has is a piece of brilliant engineering. One small hiccup though, if there's a good breeze about the wind affects it badly at around 95kmh

Proudly made in Australia and we sent it to UK so you guys can enjoy some real grunt too.

if they could try and make it easier to drive then it would be faster than a fq400. but still such a great car
Anonymous 16y ago
@ vince, thats tru i mean if its made in the uk than y is it named after an aussie racetrack?
Vince 16y ago
Its an Australian VE commodore. True aussie grunt. In Australia this would be the GTO model, or a HRT perfomance model. It goes for about 80 to 90K Aust$
