Pontiac and Buick 455 had nothing in common other than displacemennt. Separate design , different parts ,top to bottom.

No, they may both have 455 C.I. V8s with the same amount of horsepower, but the Pontiac's engine produces 500 lbs ft of torque to the Buick's 510 lbs ft and the Buick was only available with an automatic transmission.

I'm sure you could get the GS Stage 1 or GSX w/a 4 speed manual, though most buyers didn't
