I am guessing that the CLS 63 AMG's 6.2 liter is lighter than the CLS 55's Supercharged 5.4 liter. I suspect that although the normally aspirated 6.2 liter engine makes great hp, the 5.4 supercharged engine gives the CLS 55 an advantage in mid range torque. The torque advantage may be why the CLS 55 AMG has better lap times. Just my guess.
