Tires. The ZR1 had Michelin PS2s in 2009, optional Sport Cup semi-slicks in this latest lap. That alone is enough for a 2sec difference.

@Hamcee
PTM was introduced in 2010, but I don't think Randy's ever used it for a timed lap.

the zr1 got an overhaul in 2010? not sure about the year where chevy improved some things in zr1.

An old time of ZR1 in 2009 was 1:35.8 I'm curious why the difference.

I am aware though that the American cars get an advantage for doing more laps at different conditions with eventually only the fastest count. But that's a huge difference

The other thing I forgot to mention was the C&D lap times were done at a "quite" day at LS. This ment they could not go full throttle on a certian section of the track (between turn 5 and 6 I think) where the noise meter was located. This would not accout for the 5 sec difference but it would account of 2-3 sec of the time difference from Pobsts runs.

@aaaa: I can, It's the ZR1, it has awesome head to head prowess, plus, it holds the current record for a road car at Laguna Seca.

First off there is no current ACR only a Track Pack option.

But, Randy Pobst did test the ACR at LS and got a time of 1:35.2 which was the record at the time. It was after the Devon GTX beat that time that SRT with their test engineer Chris Winkler (who also races professionally) when back to LS and set the 1:33.92 time. That involved multiple days at the track and full day of running lap with the engineers making adjustments to the car. When Randy runs his time it is usually just a hand full of laps. Randy got the 1:33.7 in the ZR1 after just 5 laps as compared to SRT's full "factory" effort.

Viper time wasn't done by a pro driver like Randy Pobst. Lap times between him and other normal drivers can be in the range of five seconds dependeing of the track conditions.
For example, Car&driver did another comparasion at laguna seca where the Viper did 1:40.7 and ZR1 1:38.7.
Yeah i'm a Viper fan lol But i still think that the old ACR is quicker than the current ACR
