Back in the 1970s I occasionally drove a 1967 Ford Falcon with a 289 cu in engine. It had manual steering, and that made it a workout at low speeds. I don't think that these cars were actually very fast. I am fairly certain the top speed would be no more than 115 mph with standard gearing. 142 mph is ridiculous methinks. I will see if I can find an old road test somewhere.
