Thanks for your work in maintaining this site for all of us.

Respectfully, some notes for correction. Dodge, not Plymouth, marketed the "Magnum" engine name: Plymouth used "Super Commando." Second, the 390 hp figure related to the 440 Six-Pack, not the standard 440 Super Commando (4-bbl), which was rated at 375.

Also, a group of us who have spent decades studying such matters are unaware of any unmodified Road Runner 440 car running into the 12's. They can do it, but typically they require the addition of drag radials, uncapped pipes, a related tune and the lowest rear gears.

Regards.

Back in the day, as a promo for the 440 6BBL Road Runner, Chrysler enlisted Ronnie Sox and an amateur driver/automotive writer(I believe) to run a factory stock '69 RR 440 6BBL at a race track. I don't remember the track. Ronnie Sox averaged 12.88 and the reporter 13.54 in the quarter mile. 13.54 is impressive for a for a rookie driver and how many musclecar's were churning out those times back in '69. It also shows what a great driver Ronnie Sox was.
I don't remember all the detail's, however I am sure the RR was untouched and running stock bias ply tires. No drag tires or engine mod's.
