As most tests don't say whether it was driver with or without a passenger I think we should accept the fastest times otherwise we risk invalidating half the lap times on this site.

In such a light car as the Caparo the difference is more obvious but for most "normal" cars the impact should be minimal.

The more limitations we put around lap times the more difficult we make it for people to post up new times..... ie. car must be stock, no tuned car, only road legal cars, only road legal tyres..... perhaps just add a notation somewhere IF we know whether it was 1 up or 2 up but allow any times that we have?...... Many people would like to see the difference between 1 up and 2 up for cars like the Caparo.....

I would have no problem if a Veyron supersport with nearly 2to and ~1200hp would be tested with or without passenger because in such cars the extra ~75-90kg have next to no effect.. but in such ultra lightweight track day specials they have a gigantic impact on the power to weight ratio and of course in handling..

Caparo curbe weight power to weight ratio is 1000hp/to
Caparo +75kg driver power to weight ratio is 880hp/to
Caparo + 75kg driver + 75kg Codriver power to weight ratio is 790hp/to

thats a huge different

sorry...it would be "+1 passenger"
whatever..
Eng. is not my first language

@NIN

It sound reasonable.
from my view, FL should add a condition of laptime named "2 passengers."

I know it isn't a fair comparison (2 people vs. 1) but I don't think FL should follow EVO's rules.

Like the Top Gear board is different from the FL board because TG has rules that FL doesn't follow.

The EVO times (with 2 people) are the best the site has. If another magazine tested solo at Bedford and got better times, I think FL should keep the best times.

The question would be... if the Caparo was with passenger slower than a Radical SR8 with passenger ...would be a Radical SR8 faster wihout passenger too than the Caparo?

I can't see this
What's strange is that SR8LM seems to be slower than T1 in any aspect. According to the info. from Radical, SR8LM got 2G breaking, 2.5g cornering, worse power-weight ratio than T1. It's quite a paradox...

NIN that would be unfair if all other Bedford laptimes we have here from Evo are done with passenger... specialy at lightweight cars like the Caparo a Codriver have huge efect on laptime perfromance and power to weight ratio.
Even Evo does not claim the solo run laptime in their datasheet

My memory is a bit fuzzy but I think the 1:14.xx was the time with a passenger and the 1:10.xx was the time without a passenger.

I think EVO only keeps times with a passenger. FL should keep the best time recorded, IMO.

Found on EVO site...

At Bennett’s suggestion I wind the traction control up from 25 to 50 per cent, and it helps. There’s less drama and even more speed, and after a couple more laps my hands are starting to ache through the fastest turn, the exit of Palmer Curves, taken at 120mph and pulling up to 1.8g, as the VBOX later reveals. And the best lap? 1:10.8sec. Staggering. Even two-up it would have obliterated the current record. - John Barker

1:10.8 should stay/return.

they did the 1:10.8min according to their online magazine but why isn´t it in their magazine laptime datasheet? Different track layout?

Even in older issues they claim 1:14.8min in the laptime ranking?

User avatar

Wads  14y ago

I will check as I have issue 123..... It may have been me that added the 1:10 time and if so it would only have been if it seemed legal/fair.

I don't recall EVO ever stating whether they test with a passenger or not.....

oh does Evo not normal clock the laptime at Bedford with Codriver?
The 1:10.8min was done in a solo run is that the reason that it does not show up in their lap time datasheet?

@Wads?

according to Evo car laptime ranking the time was 1:14.8 not 1:10.8

this Evo laptime ranking was in their latest edition
if the Caparo ever did the 1:10.8min (it was claimed it was done by Evo) and they don´´t put it onto their own laptime record sheet the laptime was most likely done not under regular conditions? Different track layout not legal tires ? or most likely it was wrong added 1:10.8 for 1:14.8min
If Evo does not put the 1:10.8 on their record sheet we have to delet it from ours too, because the other laptimes are regular Evo magazine laptimes... at their own record sheet the Radical is quickest not the Caparo

wasn't it 1:10:80 ?????
