1 Formula 1 and MotoGP fastest laps on FastestLaps.com

Starting with the 2016 season, all fastest laptimes from Formula 1 and MotoGP championships will be published on FastestLaps.com.

This requires slight changes to the terms of service, allowing limited set of non street-legal vehicles to be added to our catalog. This limited set will be Formula 1 cars and MotoGP bikes.

Since exact weight and horsepower output of most racecars is subject to change, existing guidelines for determining which cars or bikes do or don't deserve a separate page, are not applicable.

A new set of rules must be defined for non-street legal vehicles, which often do not have well defined models and can be modified significantly within the same year, as is the case with Formula 1 and MotoGP.

If you are interested only in street vehicles, a check-box for filtering out all non-street laptimes will be provided. However, race car laptimes will be displayed by default, for greatest possible diversity of cars and motorcycles.

Yesterday I accidentally downloaded Moto3 race instead of MotoGP race. And I was not disappointed - it was hilarious! 17 year old rookie Malaysian (Pawi) on slicks on wet track gaining 20 seconds advantage in 5 laps.. And what did he do aftwerads? Kept on pushing, of course, to the brink of crashing a couple of times too... Despite the pit-board crew lap after lap gesturing unmistakably that he must slow down.

And that other Malaysian crashing from 2nd place literally at the last corner less than 100 meters from finish, and trying to push his bike to the finish line while injured himself.... Crazy!

What was also interesting was that the BMW X6M safety/medical car had absolutely no problem what-so-ever in keeping up with the Moto3 bikes during the first lap.. I guess that's because it was wet(ish).
