The unthinkable has happened. In the widely popular class of extremely expensive road car-derived Italian track cars (EERCDITC) a new performance benchmark is set. Pagani Zonda R with Mark Basseng behind the wheel lapped Nurburgring Northloop in a new record time - 6 minutes and 47 seconds.
That's faster than Ferrari 599XX - the other EERCDITC that made news recently. Clearly, for Pagani this is an extraordinary achievement. Next thing you hear will be their marketing people claiming this to be the new absolute Nordschleife record. After all, Pagani's next supercar, the "c9" is due this year and they just have to make headlines somehow.
