Is thius really faster then the KTM X-Bow around the Sachsenring? find that hard to believe the ktm is a track car and has 100 bhp per tonne more

Just bought one for my wife, 2nd hand, 2011 pearl white and mileage a bit high at 180k, but otherwise lovely, smooth, easy to drive and my lady loves the looks.

I own one and these times are bs
You list it does 0-100mph in 13.6 then say 1/4 mile in 14.5@98mph??? Who ever does you calculating needs to go back to school
Mine was twice dyno'd at two different places and standard was 245hp. 330 now though :-)

I own the Gen 2: with a little tuneing i have it doing 0-100km/h in 5.1sec, Quarter mile in 12.98 sec. Torque steer can be driven around. If you know whats coming then you can drive around it! GTI, RS, Megane, Astra can kiss my ass!!!
Doug 14y ago
Weak transmission? The stock tranny can handle ridiculous amounts of power, theres a 700 hp MS3 running the stock tranny with just a cooler. The transmission on this car is the most rock solid part on this car. If your idea of exhaust manifolds being released by 3 different companies in a week is "dieing down". If you don't know shit about this car, stfu and dont post.

So much nicer than the old shape.. these are like a surgeons knife ona track.. torque steer for sure if you let go of the wheel, but otherwise the car is A1 and an absolute rocket on the highway in 3rd gear and above..

I love the look of this car. First generation model was ok looking but this one is much more aggressively designed and has a menacing demeanor. Also handles and rides a little better.
Theres torque steer but its not uncontrollable and not anywhere near as bad as the reviews proclaim.
i call bs on that 14.5 1/4 mile. i'm guessing the driver has a club foot.

Yeah Mazda most certainly did a fantastic job and butchering the looks the the 2nd gen 3MPS / Mazdaspeed3. The 1st gen at least looked clean and fairly handsome without being over the top boy racer / look at me mom.
However comments about "torque steer" are so MASSIVELY over exaggerated its mind boggling. This goes for either the 1st or 2nd gen 3MPS. Yes the car has a lot of power going to the front wheels but you don’t have to go WOT all the time. It’s called: Throttle modulation and keeping both hands on the steering wheel (where they belong by the way).
And it’s not at all like you have to fight with the car to keep in straight ahead on the road at WOT. If you have problems keeping a 3MPS/ Mazdaspeed3 straight even at WOT in the lower gears you might want to check and see if your testicles have failed to drop. It’s either that or you’re driving gangster style leaned back with one hand at 12 o’clock - limp wristed and the other in your butt.
It really doesn’t take all day to move your right / left hand (UK) from the shifter to the steering wheel (where it belongs) between shifts. If you know how to drive and pay a little bit attention when going WOT in the lower gears there’s no issues with keeping a 3MPS / Mazdaspeed3 straight ahead on the road. It almost makes me ill every time I see a review that grossly over exaggerates the hell out of the whole > torque steer
thing. UK TOP is probably the worst about this.
But then again, they never claimed to be a creditable

The MPS MkII is a better package now compared to the MPS3 ; it has a more refined chassis (thanks to the limited slip diff and new damper/spring setup, steering is very precise.

I like the old Mazdaspeed3 better.
But apperantely the \"EURO SPEC\" 3 MPS (MK2) is actually lighter than the 1st Gen 3MPS. It also has different suspension tuning buited suited for european roads.
But in the U.S. the 2nd GEN Mazdaspeed3 is actually heavier buy some 120-150lbs and thus slower.

How does this car do the quarter mile In 14.5 at 98 mph and it will go to 100 mph in 13.6 seconds
anotheranon 16y ago
sorry, i was wrong... the fully equipped version actually has a total weight incl. driver and all options of 1470 kg.
anotheranon 16y ago
the mazda mps (mk2) has a total maximum weight of 1480 kilograms (incl. all options and 75 kg for the [average] driver).

Too smiley, the old design looks meaner, plus the old one's cheaper and has the same performance!
