@Fastestlaps could you update the data please. I used to own one of these 1990 Suzuki Swift GTi hatchbacks, in 1995 I traded it in for the Neon ACR Coupe. The Swift was light, and quick for the time period, but rather fragile. I don't think it would have been very safe in a crash.

Manufacturer curb weight is 1768 pounds. Weight as tested by Car and Driver with air conditioning was 1852 pounds. I used to own the Car and Driver test, Road and Track test, and Motortrend test issues. I lost the magazines when I moved from Washington D.C. to California. I purchased a black Suzuki Swift GTi in the spring of 1990 and traded it in on a 1995 red Neon ACR in the spring of 1995. I modified my Swift GTi with header, exhaust, rear sway bar, strut tower braces, Open element air filter, MSD ignition, Urethane bushings and H rated 185/60 R14 tires. It was quicker and faster than stock. I took it to top speed many times. The car was rather fragile, and I am glad that I never got into an accident with it. The Neon ACR was much bigger heavier, more durable, and safer.

This car was introduced to the U.S. market for the 1989 model year. It was tested by several magazines, but I don't have the issues. MotorWeek also tested it with 0-60 mph in 9.0 seconds and 1/4 mile in 16.7 seconds at 83 mph. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8weT2Y5jjuU

there are a lots of specs wrong in this page. the engine produces 117ps at 7500rpm, it weights 800kgs empty, and 830kgs with all the fluids, it does 0-100 kph in 7.2-7.5 secs, and 15.8s the 1/4 mille

I almost hate to admit it, but I bought one of these early in 1990. It was quick, but had too much wheel spin off the line or coming out of slow corners. Also the first gear was too short and second gear too long for decent acceleration, the revs dropped too much on the shift into second gear. The power band was very narrow, 5000 rpm to redline at 6800 rpm. On occasion I needed to rev the engine to the 7500 rpm rev limiter in first gear in order to avoid falling out of the power band when shifting into second. The engine tolerated the overrev, but the transmission needed a rebuild at 100k miles. I traded this car for a Neon ACR, which was infinitely better in all ways.

this car is one of the fastest cars, it's made with a lot of bike technology....revs like a beast...

Yaspaa 16y ago
The car appears slower on paper due to a second gear change at 61mph. 0-60 8.7
The 0-100 on this is too quick though, no way it does it in 27.0

caltrum do you realize that such comments run down the list on the main page pretty fast and are lost?
We have 1910 car datasheets do you belive we look twice a day through all 1910 car pages to see the latest comments? In the Forum is a pool for wrong data sheets ... there it would take only one daily view to see were something is wrong but no every poster makes comments at the car page and five minutes later it is of the list of the latest comments..this way we miss many usefull extra information..
and stop your Kindergarten level or I bann you
