I have photos of my metallic grey Mustang GT on the right. It had a good look with big hood scoop, the window louvers and rear wing. The Getrag MT82 six speed transmission did not like to be rushed, especially 2nd and 3rd gear. The live axle rear made it tricky around bumpy corners on the back roads, but it worked okay on smooth pavement. The sound of the 5.0 engine was very nice.

@monkeypop yep I have seen some of those spy photos as well. The IRS will be good for those who drive on poorly kept roads with frost heaves and root intrusions affecting the pavement. The live axle was not a problem on smooth roads or race tracks. I really hope Ford addresses the real problems: the poor shifting MT-82 transmission which is also flimsy and not durable enough to handle the power of the 5.0 Coyote engine; and also the inability of the current chassis to put down the power coming out of corners. The IRS development could lead to a change in weight distribution (more weight on the rear), and this might help on corner exits. Replacing the MT-82 with the Tremec is more important though, In my opinion. :)

@ Viking: Beautiful scenery, I understand why you got an MR2, it was made for roads like that. In middle Georgia, we have a lot of country back roads and long stretches of highway, not to mention dirt roads, the view I get is a lot of farmland, pine trees, fields, and patches of exposed red clay soil. It's scenic, but the roads are a lot straighter.

Your interstate highways (autobahn) are much better though since you don't have the silly speed limits we have. I really like driving in Germany. I spent a fair bit of time in and around Schleswig, Thorsberg, Ribe (Denmark) Hamburg, and Lubeck. I really enjoyed driving among the excellent German drivers at high speeds.

One thing that is kinda cool also is that we don't have snow or ice. I noticed that the motorcycle riders were going between 50 and 70 mph, I usually travel at least 10 mph faster. Lots of fun. Funny thing my previous car had 412 hp, and my current car only 138 hp, but my actual speeds on these roads are slightly higher with the new roadster. I am somewhat cautious and careful, but I am an ex-competition driver. :)

I have some great roads to drive on out here in the wine country of California, you would enjoy them. Fast good looking car with a great exhaust sound. I sold mine to a nice fellow named Rory. He makes good money as a car salesman at a Ford Dealership, and he doesn't care about the 16 mpg average. He also has enough time to wait for the transmission oil to warm up for decent shifting. He is a big fan of Mustangs, and so ignores the slight drawbacks. I miss the V8 sound, but the Spyder fits my current needs better (good fuel economy in a slick shifting two seat convertible). I still have a Mustang GT to drive anyway since my dad prefers my driving him around in his car most of the time.

Very, very fast car, but the MT-82 six speed transmission isn't all that great. It doesn't shift well until the fluid is warm, and the skip shift is annoying. No simple fix for it either. So I sold the grey beast. Fortunately I owed less than it was worth, so I have a big check to deposit.

I haven't made a comment on this car for months, so I will once again say it is silly to put a governor on a performance car that has Pirelli PZero Z rated tires. The DOHC 5.0 Coyote V8 puts out enough power to the ground to reach maybe as much as 178 mph according to my calculations. Not that fast, so why limit it? I don't think the German cars should be limited either.

Thas a good reason why i picked the RS5, thee all wheel drive and the weather here, The Nissan ive owned for the past 10 years is also Awd, so it works good, but i neede something different, the RS5 would be perfect, Luckily i can pick the car of my OWN accordance since me and my Wife have our own seperately paid cars. I was thinking of a Challenger, that is a good alternative, Snug and heavy, but as far as i know its only available as an Import and i wouldnt want to pay that Import tax.
And the Boss, Im sad too say it looks like i wont be getting:( Ill have to stick to something thats availabe here, i dont want to sound cheap, even though i can afford to Import the cars here, but i dont want to pay that when i can get something already ported.
I was thinking of a Bmw, but the only car that Bmw has right know that im interested in is the F10 M5, But i dont want to get that, even though it starts at 73k, but i dont buy any car in standard trim.
Also a Infiniti G37S IPL Coupe was inline, but alas, It doesnt seem available here:(
I swear, we either get the good cars, or we dont, wish we could just get ALL the cars, such a shame..

Of the three, I like the styling of the Audi RS5 best. Pricey, but good looking and fast. Since you are in the UK, the AWD might be useful in bad weather as well. As far as great American retro goes, I don't know if it is available in Europe, but the Challenger has the best in retro styling. I know it is a bit heavy, but I have heard the ride/handling compromise is fine, and great for cruising around. I agree that since Ford doesn't market the Mustang in Europe, the Boss is not a good choice.
