I agreee with Tobe8 that the Apollo Sport did the 7:11,57 Nurburgring time - not the Apollo Speed. Have a look at this (from the official Gumpert homepage):

Could someone please correct the laptime?

shut the **** Bumrush! well i think the car is frigging fast but it looks like a peice of shit

like i commented on the apollo speed, i'm relatively sure that the 7.11 time wasn't set by the apollo speed but by this model. this also makes more sense, cause von saurma had just 2 laps, but florian gruber had more and got closer to the real limit (like von saurma said, that he could go much(20 secs?) faster with more testing time; even gruber said the car has the potential to go under 7 minutes). look at my other comment: big spoiler and the sport-auto report -> 7.11 by apollo sport

The are good, there is no dobt about that, but it doesnt mean a proffesional race car diver could beat all NON race car drivers, that would be ignorant to say, all im saying is just because your a race car driver doesnt mean youll beat a non race car driver, (have to look deeper)

LOL...
For sure race car driver are better... the reason why they are race drivers and the average Jo is not..
I have done ~8000 or more laps on my local Kart track and I guess I do there ok, currently I am in the Top30 of the best laptimes driven by not members of the local Kart club... guys like Michael Schumacher would need perhaps only a handfull laps in the same Kart to beat my time clearly.
The guys booked by car companys to lap the Ring are not amateur race drivers, they are highly skilled racer and most of them like Patrick Simon, Chris Harris, Florian Gruber, Klaus Ludwig, Walter Röhrl, Marc Basseng, Toshi Suzuki, Bernd Schneider, Jan Magnusen, Gan san to name some of them know the Ring very well with several thousend laps northloop experience..

Just because people are race cars drivers does not mean they are better then non race cars drivers, not at all, they do have skill theres no question about that, but take a guy who just loves to drive and has ben driving for a long time non professionally, just him an his lil car racing around on a homemade circuit, does not mean the (Pro) will be better, i just think thats a big stereotype when people say things like (you need a race driver)
Georg 16y ago
Horst von Saumra is totaly impressed by the car... he had only two laps at the northlop to set a laptime... one to warm up tires and the second to run a time attack, he guess he was ~20s away from what he could drive with the car at the Ring with more practis to get closer to the limits...

Sportauto Supertest 11/2009... new sportauto laprecord at the northloop and Hockenheim short..and the slowest time ever in the wet handling test... :)
amazing to see the different between the Apollo Speed driven by a young skilled race driver and the Apollo Sport (with more downforce) driven by a older highly skilled car journalist..

"i do agree that this is faster, bu i think your UnderEstimating the ACR. it did beat the lighter more powerfull $810,000 Maserati Mc12 at the Nordeschliefe by 2.3 seconds!! and thats saying Alot. "
But the Apollo beat the ACR around the track by 11.4 seconds, and that's saying MUCH more.
