Boxster Spyder competition

James gave the car a fully positive review, if you watched the show lol, and it doesn't matter because all 1Ms and Boxster Spyders are already sold out.
That said TG has some strange laptimes, like the 458s 1.19.1, (too slow) which im pretty sure they made up, as the new stig is much faster than the old, and they didn't wan't the 458 to be faster than the Enzo which did 1.19.0
Dirtdickler 14y ago
Top Gear is full of shit. On every other track BUT TG's the Porsche Boxster Spyder / Cayman R blow the doors off the BMW 1M coupe but they somehow have the 1M about equal / quicker than the Porsches... BMW must have treated the crew pretty well or they have something against ANY Porsche that isn't a 911 because they'reignorant morons who don't understand that mid-engine > full diaper.
Steve 15y ago
Wasn't the 124.9 Top Gear lap done with a regular manual transmission? I wonder how much time Stig could have shaved off that time with a PDK.

hp number corrected to Porsches main page... and torque number added thanks sammyrs6

The mid-engine Boxster / Cayman platform is Porsches best but to make marketing since Porsche keeps the Boxster / Cayman neutered at a max 320hp. If you haven\'t realized this your either blind, stupid, delustional or don\'t care either way.
Even with just 320hp the Cayman S and Boxster spyder are quicker than the Cerrera S and 996 911 Turbo around many tracks.

Top Speed - manufacturers claim.

you sure?? take a look at what power to weight ratio can do ...
https://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/4769c1746c636-vs-483c20f837e99.html
less weight is a must for track use and that r8 v10 spyder with its 17xxkg don't have that advantage with 400 hp and 50 kg less the spyder would be an excellent rival for alot less...
Anonymous 16y ago
Porsche will produce a boxster turbo no body know with what engine 4 inline is the rumor...
but if they wanted to make something excellent they should hunt the 400 with less weight.
Anonymous 16y ago
what about a direct fuel injected 3L inline 5 with twin turbo that produce around 400 ps it would be lighter and has 80hp more!
Boxster Spyder turbo power to weight 0.320
r8 v10 spyder power to weight 0.302
Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet facelift power to weight 0.299
an excellent rival.
Anonymous 16y ago
Should be able to beat standard Carreras around the track, possibly even Carrera S
rs73only 16y ago
I would like to see a 0 to 200 km/h. it should still be a couple of tenth's better than the Cayman S pdk if if it has worse aerodinamics with its open or closed top...
gt 16y ago
fastestlaps if your waiting for a reference of the 0 to 160 km/h

this is not a limited edition boxster spyder:
Unlike the limited-edition Boxster Spyders from 2004 and 2008, the 2011 Boxster Spyder will be a regular production model sold alongside the Boxster and Boxster S. The 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder goes on sale in February 2010 at a price of $61,200.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=10&article_id=8550
they are not the same:
porsche germany claims that boxster spyder with manual would accelerate from 0 to 160km/h in 10.8S unlick the pdk with sport+ that would kik it in 10.3S same story with the Weight&top speed... go to the porsche gonfigurator and check for your self. finaly who cars about your ugly opinion about the pictures?? just because you can change pictures does'nt mean you have to change em for cars that you can't submmit.

Georg don't be wierd, if I remember correctly you've added BMW 135i performance option to data base? Am I wright? What for you did it? Situation was similar like in this case. Performaces for 135i cupe and yours version were similar, the same power and almost invisible difference in time at the track. So think over before you write it down something :-)Or juge all cases according the same rules

I myself deleted only this one as requested by GT.
Maybe the other ones got exactly the same ID (if they had exactly the same name make+model) and got deleted automatically with it. But that's unlikely because you cannot submit car with a name that already exists in database.
