Golf GTI competition

Nice car, I love this front design of the mkv gti's. Unfortunately, VW from Brazil didn't sell it on brazilian market nor imported it from Mexico. I drive an audi A3 with the same specs of a Gti, and for me it is a very nice car to have, fast, practical and with a good fuel
consumption. I believe anything bellow 6.8 s on 0-60 is a very optimist mark. Here in Brazil due to our gasoline poor octanage it is estimated on 7,1 s.

Its a very nice car .
the golf r32 was my first car and it was funny to drive over the hockenheimring .and do you know: bugatti, audi and lamborghini are ,,vws"
so be quiet goofy.

if you're living in south africa, under the age of 25. Golf GTI is the first choice car for young chicks and students. It was nicknamed "panty dropper".

I drive a golf 5 gti with 42000 km 18 inch rims got 6.8 sec 0-100km today on the r21 highway

Hey beliv it or nt 0-100km am drving mk1 velocity 1.8is 2007 i do 4.2sec
TheFrank 15y ago
2867lbs?? That's lighter than the 8th Gen Civic SI coupe in the states!
So are the GTI's in Europe really 300+ pounds lighter than the one's in the U.S?
I asked because the 05-current GTI's in the U.S.A weigh ~3150-3250lbs NOT 2867lbs.

@Darren: You do not work for the VW/Audi group. You are a liar and you most probably drive an old Beemer with shiny new magwheels.
golf3diesel 15y ago
@jefrizn you do 0-100 in 6 seconds, but on speedometer which at 100 kmh actually gets you going with like 95 kmh :D
Darren 16y ago
I feel I should but in about now. I work for the VW audi group and I can assure everyone who is starting to think it might be true that not even Alonso could get a stock MK5 gti from 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in anything less than 6.4 seconds for a DSG and 6.6 seconds for the manual. And anyone on here who is saying any different is either lying or there stop watch is broken. The only hatches in with a shout of breaking 0-100 kph in 6 seconds are the Focus RS, the Golf R and the Audi S3.

I think a 2008 or 2009 GTI mk5, would get 6,5s 0-100km, 'cause it has the same engine from the new gti mk6 and the scirocco. The EA888, dyno run 211hp.
