Maybe it's just me, but this looks way newer than a 2004.

plus this car is ugly from the back and front

User avatar

SupGuys  3y ago

I prefer the Mk4 instead.

User avatar

Exact same 0-100 mph time as the Golf IV R32. Interesting.

User avatar

Casey  4y ago

I ran a 9.3 in a stock MKV Gti slips to prove it.

AutoZeitung ClassicCars (10/2020):

Best car there is, bought a 2008 one. Excellent fuel economy, fast, reliable, compact but also spacious. Highly recommend it

The Volkswagen Golf GTI ranks among my favorite hatchbacks, fuel efficient, quick, fast, dependable, and well built, Germans don't skimp on the build quality of their cars, I admire that.

@ Venicius: The sound of a Honda V Tech Inline 4 does it for me, in my humble opinion, the opinion of a Toyota man when it comes to Japanese cars, the Honda V Tech inline 4s are the best sounding 4 cylinder engines in the world.

Nice car, I love this front design of the mkv gti's. Unfortunately, VW from Brazil didn't sell it on brazilian market nor imported it from Mexico. I drive an audi A3 with the same specs of a Gti, and for me it is a very nice car to have, fast, practical and with a good fuel
consumption. I believe anything bellow 6.8 s on 0-60 is a very optimist mark. Here in Brazil due to our gasoline poor octanage it is estimated on 7,1 s.

monkeypop  13y ago

They may be part of VW but those cars have absolutely nothing in common with a Golf.

User avatar

TheBlackStig  13y ago

bugatti, audi, lamborghini are part of vw

User avatar

monkeypop  13y ago

@Stig

Are you actually trying to compare a VW to Golf to Audi, Bugatti and Lambo??

The golf is a regular economy car and in my opinion a quite ugly one. No one in their right mind would ever call this car a "panty dropper".

User avatar

TheBlackStig  13y ago

Its a very nice car .
the golf r32 was my first car and it was funny to drive over the hockenheimring .and do you know: bugatti, audi and lamborghini are ,,vws"
so be quiet goofy.

User avatar

Masiya  13y ago

if you're living in south africa, under the age of 25. Golf GTI is the first choice car for young chicks and students. It was nicknamed "panty dropper".

User avatar

You sure it wasn't 6.82?

User avatar

mafsa  14y ago

I drive a golf 5 gti with 42000 km 18 inch rims got 6.8 sec 0-100km today on the r21 highway

User avatar

Malema lutendo  15y ago

Hey beliv it or nt 0-100km am drving mk1 velocity 1.8is 2007 i do 4.2sec

User avatar

TheFrank  15y ago

2867lbs?? That's lighter than the 8th Gen Civic SI coupe in the states!

So are the GTI's in Europe really 300+ pounds lighter than the one's in the U.S?

I asked because the 05-current GTI's in the U.S.A weigh ~3150-3250lbs NOT 2867lbs.

User avatar

AntiDarren  15y ago

@Darren: You do not work for the VW/Audi group. You are a liar and you most probably drive an old Beemer with shiny new magwheels.

User avatar

@darren  15y ago

the megane rs 250 can do it in 5.9 sec.

User avatar

golf3diesel  15y ago

@jefrizn you do 0-100 in 6 seconds, but on speedometer which at 100 kmh actually gets you going with like 95 kmh :D

User avatar

Darren  16y ago

I feel I should but in about now. I work for the VW audi group and I can assure everyone who is starting to think it might be true that not even Alonso could get a stock MK5 gti from 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in anything less than 6.4 seconds for a DSG and 6.6 seconds for the manual. And anyone on here who is saying any different is either lying or there stop watch is broken. The only hatches in with a shout of breaking 0-100 kph in 6 seconds are the Focus RS, the Golf R and the Audi S3.

User avatar

Shivo  17y ago

My young bro just did 0-100 in 6.6 sec and 0-200 in 20.13 GTI rocks GUY anyone in GP for a race????

User avatar

jefrizn  17y ago

I recorded considerably faster times 0-100km/h in ~ 6 secs. 0-160km/h in 13 secs. 0-180km/h in 16 secs.0-210km/h in 24secs.Stock motor 2.0 Turbo FSI.DSG.2008 Black Magic 5 door. SportContact-2 225/45/17.Fuel unleaded RON97 PETRONAS Primax 3.

User avatar

jefrizn  17y ago

i think james's time was quite ok,well at least tenths of second faster than publish by VW. You can check the 2 vids posted by myself at youtube. search for jefrizn. mine also is stock.

User avatar

sam  17y ago

I think a 2008 or 2009 GTI mk5, would get 6,5s 0-100km, 'cause it has the same engine from the new gti mk6 and the scirocco. The EA888, dyno run 211hp.

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

if Gti timed 5,8 sec in 0-100km/h

S3 with haldex in 2 sec???

hahahahha.

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

hahahahahaha james.

0-100km/h in 5.8 sec??

You are crazy.

Golf GTi V is a piece of crap.
