Yes, they are close. The 1/4 mile time for the Stingray must have been at a drag strip or other prepared surface. Car and Driver only got 1/4 mile times of 12.1 to 12.2 for the Stingray. This drag strip time messes up the comparison.

The C7 Corvette Stingray has a smaller frontal area, and better drag coefficient than the Shelby Mustang GT350. Above 150 mph the Corvette pulls away from the Shelby Mustang and reaches a 10 mph higher top speed.

Yes that quarter mile result is a curveball lol. At the time it was posted, it was the world record for a bone stock C7 Stingray (I think it still is). I kinda don't want fastestlaps to change it because it's one of the few (albiet false) specs that remain from when I just started out in the fastestlaps community (about 2-3 years before I made this account). Call it nostalgia I guess.

Yeah, that C7 Stingray quarter mile has been there for a long time, but it does mess up comparisons. I have always considered fastestlaps to be more accurate than zeperfs, I still do. I can't actually remember when I first came upon fastestlaps, maybe 2010, but it was before the C7 Stingray came out. I would like us to have accurate verified specs that are representative of the cars performance.

The GT350 and R were not meant to rival anything from Camaro and Challenger. They were meant to fill up the space as if Ford were to provide an ACTUAL and PHYSICAL Corvette competitor.
It's the same with the 2000 Cobra R. However, the 2003-2004 Mach 1 and Terminator both rivaled the Pontiac GTO.
