Fastestlaps, have you found any 0-100 km/h data? The 8.9 s founded by me was done by the 160 PS version.

190 2.6 had the same engine (M103) as 260E and 260SE (w126 S-class). And it was essentially the same engine as in 300E, 300SE, 300SL and 300 G-Class which the only difference that bore was reduced to give smaller displacement of 2.6 not 3.0 liters.
This was a more smooth, relaxed and refined alternative to 190 2.3-16 valve (so-called 2.3-16 Cosworth) which was a ture sports-sedan.
