The "complete rebuild" of FastestLaps.com seems forever to be just too far away. Especially after the hard drive of my laptop failed and took latest developments with it.
Backlog of un-moderated laptimes, however, has never stood still.
This is why I decided to add two little but, in my opinion, very powerful features to this current version of Fastestlaps.com.
The first one is "Report Error" form. It is a simple one-field form where you (all registered users) can report errors in cars and laptimes (little blue "plus" icon with "Report error"). This is a much needed feature, because up until now, all error reports have been posted in comments, where they get quickly berried under flood of sensible and not so sensible, and sometimes flat out floody comments. Now every edit request submitted via this form will be noticed and processed.
The second feature is community moderation for laptimes. It is a simple system where we all (all registered memebers) essentially have become moderators and can up or down-vote laptimes. Very down-voted laps will eventually get deleted. Initially by hand, but in near future - automatically.
I may also have to add that each member won't have equal voice in this community vote. Our voice will be proportional to our individual rank, which is calculated based on how much we each have contributed to this site.
This rank will, in future, be displayed in member's profile page.
Update: The latest laptimes panel will now show all latest laptimes immediately. Minus the ones you have already marked as correct or incorrect. So don't worry when you see laptime you just moderated disappear from the list. That's how it's supposed to be!
Tip: If you encounter a laptime without any references, either mark it as incorrect immediately or, if you know it's correct, file an error report where you state the reference(s) for this time and then mark it as correct.
