the Hockenheim shortlap time was driven by sportauto in the supertest..the same car doing a 7:44min at the Ring
klick on "Wertung" the second picture is the Hockenheim laptime sheet..
Anonymous 16y ago
i know that they have good factory drivers but since your going this way i think you should rebuild that same comment using porsche name and they have done!.btw i smell pussy they can't prove they're car is faster than 7:44 (if they believe so in the firs place) do you have a source for that v10 HockenheimShort lap??

doesn't audi have a good factory driver ???
they have many worldclass drivers
current DTM champion, most successfull LeMans race driver of all time, several time race of champion winner...
Audi does not jump on the factory laptime record attention whore claim train like many other car manufactors..they never officel claimed a laptime for any of their cars.
Audi has won 8time 24h of LeMans, 7 driver and manufactor titel in the DTM, several time ALMS driver and manufactor champion, several national touring car championships around the world, finished 2. place at the race debut of the Audi R8 LMS at the 24h at the northloop that all the last 10years... they have already shown that they knew their stuff at the race track and that their drivers are good...

well in response to ur coment i'd like to say tht any one who really doess doubt porsches expertise is really an idiot cause porsche is a car manufactor that always nows what there doing and on any short distance race track wth striaghts that arent very long the gt3 is bound to do an impresive lap time power may be the gt3 s biggest disadvantage but sure doess put its power to incredably good use and if any one nows how to build a pure track day car as close to a race car as u can get its obviously porsche and rwd doess not make it akward how the gt3 rapes the gtr i mean rwd cars dont have the issue wth understeer tht awd cars plus the gt3 has better aerodynamics thn the gtr and the gt3 has better brakes and a lower center of gravity can u really call the rear engine lay out a disadvantage in a gt3 when it handles so good and has so much grip i mean most of the wieght may be in the rear but porsche always nows how to solve any problem with any car.

Well, yes it is awkward, but it does beat GT-R on Hockenheim although it has only rear wheel drive, only stick shift and 50 hp less.
The track is quite short too, which makes it tougher for non turbo vehicles,it's slower which makes it harder to put the power on the ground too.
And it's not even an RS.
Has anyone of you out there ever doubt Porsche's expertise?

Autozeitung...
who would believe an m3 is faster than a z06 too... if you can prove the condition wast right then you should add that as a note for the lap if you can't then its not.
hockenheim...
who would believe that a standard 2003 Lamborghini Gallardo is faster than the lp640 or the turbo.

when it comes to cars performance we deal with numbers not the personal views you want the truth?? the total truth?? go buy both cars and do tests instead of judging the people that happens to have the pleasure to do so.

doesn't audi have a good factory driver ??? or drivers so weakness do always find excuses for it self but do something about it is another thing von Saumra is not made to push all the cars to its limit in fact he could on some of the cars so you should deal with the actual data unless you have better ones... and about Autozeitung test what ever that is do not make it an excuse to make the car sits in every ones favorite places even the podium have excuses no one has taken the perfect lap the v10 take the test and that's what it takes to be beating... no need to mention strait line speed or the autoblid test whats about that is it car magazines again or is only have an 525hp compared to 480?? the turbo is faster.
Georg 16y ago
Nordschleife...
Turbo factory claim driven by Röhrl
R8 V10 car magazine test by Horst von Saumra, the Porsche Turbo driven by HvS was SLOWER than the R8 V10 driven by the same guy..
Autozeitung...
clearly incompetent test driver or not perfect weather conditions..who realy belives a M3 is faster than a R8 V10?
People should ready fastest laps laptimes more carefully... specially at the Northloop were the different between factory test claim and car magazine test is sometimes huge... and comapring a factory claim to a independent car magazine test is pointless
Anonymous 16y ago
i would take the R8 V10 over any 997 except for the new gt3 rs or the new turbo the gt2 is another story...
Anonymous 16y ago
no matter what the v10 still lose to the old turbo with actualy less power lets say at least in dry conditions...
just to make things clear i meant "overall results" not that the turbo dominate the v10 in every dry test the same goes for the turbo in wet tests the v10 does not dominate...
Anonymous 16y ago
what about the
Nordschleife
Autozeitung test track
Contidrom
vs
Hockenheim Short
Autocar Dry Handling Track
Anonymous 16y ago
dont you put every things on those semi sliks no matter what the v10 still lose to the old turbo with actualy less power lets say at least in dry conditions...
Anonymous 16y ago
NOP im talking about the spec and the look the rs have a better tyre they ar not the same.
