Cayman s 987.1, Con semi slick, aro 18, 235 adelante, 295 atrás, pasm normal, pcm off, neumáticos calientes, 0-100 Kim's/h 4.2 segundos. Este automóvil tiene mucho potencial.

Layout is mid engine, not rear as stated in the spec at the top of the page. Bit of a fundamental error!

Flimper you're Wrong.
The older 295hp / no limited slip (because it would make the 911 look stupid) Cayman S recorded 8:11 at the RING.
The newer 320hp (09+) Porsche Cayman S runs 8:06 at the RING. It’s right there with the E90/92 M3 despite having a far inferior power to weight ratio and often quicker than the 911/911S and Turbo due to its superior mid-engine power train set-up.
The Porsche Boxster/ Cayman are mid-engine which give them much better weight distribution / balance. They are fundamentally the best cars in Porsche's line up. Porsche's knows this as well but for the sake of tradition and keeping its classic (911 proportions) they keep the ass-heavy / engine behind the rear axle 911 as their "top of the line" model.
The ONLY thing keeping the Cayman S from totally dominating the 911 S is engine power. Porsche and everyone who knows anything about cars understands this. Porsche can obviously make due pretty well with the engine way in the back but it’s definitely not the optimal place for the motor.
The saying of > You only buy a Boxster / Cayman because you can’t afford a 911
couldn’t be more ignorant or misleading. That’s the type of misinformation you hear coming for UK Top Gear and other non-factual / strictly entertainment entities. God only knows how many people UK Top Gear has misinformed and or brainwashed people into thinking.

@James
The new (320hp) Porsche Cayman S is a lot faster and better performing the Lotus Evora. Looks are subjective but I\'ll take the Cayman S. Exclusive? Being exclusive doesn\'t make it drive better. The Porsche Cayman S is most defiantly one of if not the best driver\'s car out there. The way you speak of it just shows how ignorant you are. The Evora is nice as well but leaps better than the Cayman S is certainly isn\'t, not by a long shot.

Cayman S 16y ago
Typo. meant 2008, Clearly not 1998. Yes it COULD handle more power. It just doesnt NEED it.

errr. Please dont give my 1998 Cayman S more power. I can only assume most people who post here dont actually own a sports car. I purchased my Cayman (with Chrono, PASM and a whole list of extras) because it is a stunning daily drive and track day car. At full spec it is the same price as an entry 911 but thats not the point. The Cayman S returns to the roots of mid engine, weekend racing Porsches that are as much the ledgend of Porsche as Le Mans and the 911. More comfortable and practical than a Lotus Exige, as quick or quicker around a twisty mountian road than a Grand Tourer (Aston, Ferarri etc). The ONLY thing that lets it down is no limited slip diff as standard. I can tell you that driving it hard is like sticking a pole down the centre of the car and it almost pivots on this axis into bends. The mid engine doesnt just 'help' with stability it gives more poise and traction in bends which means you can go faster
Saying that you drive a 1998 Cayman S doesn't give us much hope that you drive a sports car either considering that the Cayman didn't even existing until 2005..... having driven Gen 1 and Gen 2 Cayman and Cayman S (manual and PDK) I strongly agree with the general feeling that it could easily handle more power (350bhp would be perfect) but Porsche will never allow that while still selling the 911.....

I also think the Cayman should have more power, not as much as the 911 Carrera S though. Maybe the same as the base Carrera would be good. And for all those that say that MR is better than RR, for the most part you're right, but C/D had a feature on a Cayman with the C2S engine and the Cayman's 0-60 was slower that the C2S even though it was lighter. Putting the engine at the rear gives better traction off the line.
And compare the facelift C2S to the R8 on this site. The C2S wins and its cheaper.

I had tested one CaymanS. I was happy. The best sport car ever for each day. Better than 911 Carrera 4S, that i'd tested 3 hours before.
