Porsche Cayman GT4 vs Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE Package

I was surprised to see the GT4 outdid the camaro on a lot of these. Based on dyno plots, would have expected the higher torque/hp (even accounting for weight) of the SS to destroy the GT4.

I did a few laps in a GT4 at Exotics Racing/Speed Vegas (highly recommend if you're in Vegas) among other high end sports cars, and it felt like the right amount of power for me. But not wanting to pay 100k+ for a storage-less coupe (only would really consider something like CT5-V Blackwing at that level), am looking at the Camaros. ZL1 honestly felt like too much (+increased weight/size), even though it looks like a beast. Was also looking at the new GR86, but I feel it might get boring too soon with the lower power capability, and I hear cabin noise is bad on the highway.

I actually own both of those cars. I have a ‘19 SS with the 1LE track package and a ‘21 718 GT4. You can add the lap time comparisons for COTA. GT4 2:36 and Camaro 2:35. I too am amazed how close these cars are but are also so different in the way the accomplish the same lap times. My analogy is the GT4 is a scalpel and the Camaro is a butcher knife.

It's crazy you can compare a modern Camaro SS to a Porsche nowadays. They truly outdid themselves with the Mk6. Might as well buy one someday, who knows :D
