The Lamborghini Miura might have started the series production supercar segment, but the Chevy Corvette C3 really changed it for good. No, the C3 wasn't a supercar, but the Big Block versions sure were!
The C3 was an evolution of the C2 with much better handling.
Also ignore its obscenely fast straight line performance, that was generally the Corvette's purpose before the oil crisis hit (the L88 would lose to a Miura on a track FOR SURE).
427 and 454 Big Blocks started the supercar-on-a-budget trend.
But come 1973/74, the 'vette was downgraded to compete with Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches CLOSER to its "overall performance" (combination of class/quality, straight line and lap time data) of its day... the C4+ generations really showed how much of a beast it is on the track

This car is not making 530 HP. These ratings are gross ratings, not SAE net rating like most cars today. I estimate that this car is making 400-450 net hp.

One of the American icon that ever became the fastest car not just in America but in the world. Tested by GM test track can reach 180 mph and some magazine write this car can reach over 170 mph. Only Ferrari Daytona, Lamborghini Miura and Shelby Cobra who can match it's top speed. Output by GM is 430 hp @ 4600 but true output is 530 hp @ 6400.

Well if you want to buy this in 1968, you must order it under RPO C48 and this car doesn't has radio and heater. All of the L88 model got 4 Disc Brake (Power Brake) and heavy duty suspension also it has 200 mph Spedometer. It 1.500 USD more costly than base model. The racing model got 600 Hp and can reach 194 mph in 12 Hours race in Sebring Raceway. Sucessor of this car is Corvette ZL1.
