@BR2+: I'd choose a Corvette Stingray over this Jaguar.

@saxy
I guess he means the Uhlenhault coupe.

But you are right the SLR was based on the W196 Streamliner F1 car from 1954/55. The W196 was one of the most succesful F1 cars ever, btw.

Id still choose a 300SL or a Mustang, Regardless if it doesn't have suspension, and no brakes. There is a reason why that car is loved by so many people. Well, I don't love it, Id rather have a 440 R/T SixPack, But I like the 300 and the E-Types okay, But neither one is my type of car. I don't particularly care for too many pre 1980s Mercedes or Jags.

No the SLR was based on their formula 1 car. The 300SL came before the SLR.

It was never a proper sports car

@Saxy

The reason for the 300SL having the gullwing doors is because the chassis was based of the 300SLR racecar

The E-type was only 1/3 of the price of a Ferrari, but was easily as good if not better. And you could really race with it.

The 300 SL had no brakes, no suspension, based on a soft saloon chassis. It was built cheaply because Benz was broke at the time.

No comparison really.

I never really cared for the E Type, Its not bad, But I think its more hyped then it should be, Id rather have a 300SL or a Mustang of the time
