Agree. I think the road cars sold were all '97/'98 911 GT1 Evo with 544 PS as tested in your link.

I could only find that they made 20 racing cars, 15 '96-'97 and 5 '98.

Also that they made 1 homologation car for 1996, and one for 1998, but got no info on how many '97s were built

The GT1 was never based on the 996, it was based on the 993 it only recived the optic of the 996 at the 1997 and 1998 model

This version was build 21 times of which some were build as street cars.
